2022 AMCC Men's Volleyball News

All institution sport teams which compete for an AMCC championship may select one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-AMCC Sportsmanship Team.

The 2022 season came to an end for the Penn State Altoona men's volleyball team on Saturday evening, when the four seed Lions suffered a 3-1 loss to second seed Ramapo College in the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Championship match at the Bradley Center.

The Penn State Behrend (22-8) men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to the top-ranked Springfield Pride (27-1) in the first round of the NCAA Championships held on Friday afternoon.

Penn State Behrend won it's second AMCC title and first trip to the NCAA Division III tournament with a 3-1 victory over Geneva College in the men's volleyball championship.

Top seed Penn St. Behrend will take on #2 Geneva College in the men's volleyball championship match on Saturday.

#3 Hiram College and #4 Penn State Altoona each earned first round victories in the AMCC men's volleyball championship tournament to advance to the semifinal round on Friday evening.

The AMCC Men's Volleyball Championship Tournament kicks off Tuesday evening with first round matchups when #6 Medaille College travels to #3 Hiram College and #4 Penn State Altoona hosts #5 Thiel College.

Barbato led the Golden Tornadoes to two big conference wins over the weekend to solidify a second place finish the AMCC. In four games on the week, he had 64 kills (4.27 k/s) on a .258 hitting percentage, including 20 kills (5.0 k/s) on a .444 hitting percentage in an important win at Penn State Altoona on Saturday. He also added 53 digs (3.53 d/s), including a career-high 19 digs against Altoona, and eight blocks (0.53 b/s). He now leads the AMCC with 348 kills and 3.55 k/s. Barbato recorded 76.0 points on the week, for an average of 5.1 points per set.

Dickerson led the Mavs to a 3-0 week in AMCC play, including a big five-set victory over Geneva. Dickerson averaged 3.64 kills per set and earned a .348 hitting percentage. He totaled 40 kills, two assists, four aces, 29 digs, and seven blocks. His best game was against Mount Aloysius where he had 11 kills averaging 3.67 kills per set with a .500 hitting percentage. He added one ace, eight digs, and three blocks, as well. Dickerson also had a strong match against Geneva, where he recorded 18 kills (3.60 k/s), nine digs, four blocks, three service aces, one assist, and recorded a .349 hitting percentage against the Golden Tornadoes.

Baker had a great week setting the Lions' offense while also providing strong defense, helping his team go 3-0 in AMCC matches. In Wednesday night's win at St. Vincent, he totaled 44 assists to go along with 13 digs, two kills, and a block assist. In Saturday's victory in the AMCC Match of the Week at Thiel, the sophomore recorded 49 assists (the fourth-most assists in a single match in Penn State Altoona men's volleyball history) while adding nine digs, three block assists, a service ace, and a kill. Later that day, in a win over Medaille, he recorded 33 assists, 10 digs, two kills, and a block assist. On the week, Baker totaled 126 assists (9.69 assists per set), 32 digs (2.46 digs per set), five block assists (0.38 blocks per set), and five kills (0.38 kills per set).
