The AMCC men's volleyball Game of the Week features Penn State Altoona (9-2) and Hiram College (7-4) on Saturday afternoon.

Penn State Altoona men’s volleyball has gotten off to a hot start within the AMCC this season, posting nine wins over its first 11 conference matches. The Lions boast three of the top 17 players in the AMCC in points per set, with sophomore outside/right side Philip Silva ranking eighth in the conference (3.4 points per set), sophomore outside Jared Bodisch being 15th (2.7 points per set), and sophomore middle/right side Trey Sadler holding 17th (2.5 points per set). Silva is also ninth in the conference in kills per set (2.79), while Bodisch is 15th (2.3 kills per set) and Sadler is 17th (2.08). Reigning AMCC Player of the Week Connor Baker, the Lions’ sophomore setter, leads the conference in assists per set (8.79) while also being second in total assists (589). In the middle, sophomore Jared Kish has the second-best hitting percentage (.360) in the AMCC while ranking 13th in the conference in blocks per set (0.55), and fellow sophomore Connor Ebersole is fifth in the league in blocks per set (0.76). Senior Micah Brinker has provided steady defense at the libero position, and he ranks seventh in the AMCC in digs per set (2.17).

Hiram enters Saturday’s match sitting in fourth place in the AMCC standings at 7-4. The Terriers are 2-1 over their last three conference matches defeating Mount Aloysius and Geneva. Hiram currently sits in fifth place in multiple categories in AMCC play. The team ranks fifth in kills (447), kills per set (11.18), attack percentage (.193), assists (395) and assists per set (9.88). Individually, Tom Supan ranks ninth in kills in AMCC play (105) and sixth in kills per set (3.28). Supan has also been holding his own on the defensive end. The Medina, Ohio native is seventh in the conference in digs (94) and third in digs per set (2.94). Teammate Kilvio Montero is tenth in kills per set (2.62). Montero and Supan are T-8th in service aces (14) with Montero ranking first in service aces per set (0.48). Middle blocker Dangelo Boehner is seventh in attack percentage (.277) in conference play. The Columbus, Ohio native is fourth in the conference in total blocks (36) and fifth in blocks per (0.90). Senior Andrew Diaz de Padilla has been the leading assist man all season for the Terriers. In AMCC play, the setter is fourth in both assists (283) and assists per set (8.09). The Terriers look to avenge their loss to Penn State Altoona from earlier in the year when the team dropped a five-set match in Erie, Pa. Hiram men’s volleyball now enters the home stretch of their 2022 regular season with five matches remaining, all of which are against conference foes.
