AMCC 25TH ANNIVERSARY THEN & NOW SERIES: CALVIN CROSBY, HILBERT COLLEGE

Calvin Crosby got his start in the AMCC as a member of the Medaille College men’s volleyball team from 2014-2017. 

The Pendleton, N.Y native was a major offensive threat during his four-year career as a Maverick. Through the 111 matches he competed in, the RightSide Hitter earned 877 kills (2.36 k/s), 119 service aces, 235 digs, 187 total blocks while earning 1,110.5 points (2.99 p/s).

He dominated the court during his senior campaign finishing with a 3.66 kills per set average with a total of 350 Points (4.55 points per set) and was named the AMCC Co-Player of the Year in 2017. 

Crosby helped the Medaille Mavericks post back-to-back NEAC regular season and championship titles in 2015 & 2016. 

He received numerous athletic and academic honors in both the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) and North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as a student-athlete.  

Crosby was a three-time AMCC all-conference player earning first team accolades in 2015 & 2017 and a second team honor in 2016. He was voted to the NEAC all-conference first team in addition to the previously mentioned AMCC Co-Player of the Year in 2017. 

Crosby, a 2016 Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Academic Honor Society inductee, earned AMCC Academic All-Conference recognition all four years, Peak Performer status the last three years and was named a NEAC Scholar-Athlete twice. 

Crosby graduated from Medaille College in 2017 with a degree in education and became Hilbert College’s first full-time Men’s and Women’s Head Volleyball coach in November 2019.  He guided the women’s volleyball team through a Covid-reduced 2020 spring season while he was able to reignite the men’s volleyball program which had been on hiatus since 2017. 

 

The Then and Now Series is part of the AMCC's 25th anniversary where the conference will be recognizing current AMCC coaches and/or athletic administrators who are former AMCC student-athletes. The Then and Series will run every Tuesday throughout the academic year.
