#1 BEHREND, #2 GENEVA TO MEET FOR MEN'S VOLLEYBALL TITLE

Top seed Penn State Behrend will take on #2 Geneva College in the AMCC men's volleyball championship match on Saturday at 3p at the Junker Center in Erie, PA.

Behrend was tested relentlessly over four sets by #4 seed Penn State Altoona in the first semifinal.  The two squads battled back and forth in every set before Behrend prevailed, 3-1 (25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-21).  The regular season champs were led by the hitting trio of JP Goodsel (16 kills, 12 digs), Owen Wienczkowski (14 kills, .542 kill %, 6 blocks) and Cody Schnur (10 kills, .450 kill %) and the magical defense of libero Adrian Martinez (15 digs).  Altoona saw standout performances from Philip Silva (10 kills, 15 digs), Trey Sadler (16 kills, 10 digs) and Connor Baker (41 assists).

In the night cap, Geneva was forced to go the distance against #3 seed Hiram College, pulling out a five set thriller over the defending champs (25-20, 22-25, 25-10,27-25, 15-12).

The Golden Tornadoes had three hitters in double digit kills: Peter Barbato (19), Byron Spear (18) and Carter Milroy (15).  Setter Curtis Thomas piled up 50 assists plus 17 digs.  The Terriers were led by Tom Suppan (16 kills, 15 digs), Dangelo Boehner (12 kills, .708 kill %), and Andrew Dia d Padilla (37 assists, 10 digs).

Geneva handed Behrend two of their three regular season conference losses, the first by 3-2 and the second just last weekend, 3-0.

The winner will earn the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Div. III tournament.
