NEUMANN ENDS MEDAILLE'S SEASON IN ECAC SEMIFINALSMarch 03, 2018The Medaille College men's basketball team continued their magical postseason run on Saturday afternoon, taking on the Knights of Neumann in the ECAC DIII Men's Basketball Championship Semifinals. In what turned out to be a classic, the Mavs took a late lead but couldn't hold on as the Knights edged Medaille 89-85.

LA ROCHE MEN FALL TO JOHNS HOPKINS IN NCAA OPENING ROUNDMarch 03, 2018The AMCC Champion La Roche College men's basketball program earned their way to their second-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. The Redhawks fought and battled #12 Johns Hopkins for all forty minutes, but the Blue Jays pulled away late. Johns Hopkins held on and advanced to the second round as the Redhawks fell 52-39.

Penn State Altoona dropped a 71-66 decision to Bethany College to bring a close to their 2017-18 campaign.

LA ROCHE MEN DRAW JOHNS HOPKINS IN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA TOURNAMENTFebruary 26, 2018La Roche College (21-6) earned their second NCAA Tournament berth after defeating Penn State Behrend 77-74 in Sunday's AMCC Championship Game. The Redhawks will travel to Baltimore, Maryland and face host Johns Hopkins in an NCAA Tournament First Round game on Friday at 7:30pm. The La Roche/Johns Hopkins winner will advance to play the MIT/Brockport winner in a second round game on Saturday night.

Zach Gould, La Roche College, Men's BasketballFebruary 26, 2018Gould had a conference tournament to remember. He recorded nine points and five rebounds in a semifinal win over Hilbert on Saturday. He then scored 26 points and hit six of seven three-pointers in the AMCC Championship game on Sunday to lead the Redhawks to their third conference title in program history. For his efforts, Gould was named to the All-Tournament Team.

LA ROCHE, BEHREND TO CLASH IN AMCC MEN'S BASKETBALL TITLE GAMEFebruary 24, 2018Top-seed La Roche College and #2 Penn State Behrend earned semifinal round victories to advance to the AMCC men's basketball championship game. The Redhawks scored an 84-67 win over Hilbert College, as Behrend defeated Medaille College, 79-76 in the second game.

Brian Nwaekeke, D'Youville College, Men's BasketballFebruary 19, 2018Nwaekeke had the best week of his career this past week, recording career-high scoring totals in back-to-back games. Nwaekeke started off the week by scoring a career-high 26 points in a thrilling game against Medaille on Wednesday. He shot 61.1% from the field and played a career-high 39 minutes. Nwaekeke also grabbed a team high 13 rebounds for his fifth double-double of the season. On Saturday, the sophomore then had another outstanding performance. He tied his career high with 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double. He played 38 minutes in the game, adding a pair of steals. Nwaekeke leads the team in rebounding with 7.0 rebounds per game, is second with a 52.5 FG%, and is fourth with 10.2 PPG. Nwaekeke's 7.0 rebounds per game is fourth in the AMCC.

AMCC MEN'S BASKETBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: MOUNT ALOYSIUS @ FRANCISCANFebruary 12, 2018The AMCC is entering the final week of the regular season, which means teams are making their last push to move up in league standings, and for some, to earn their spot in the postseason tournament. Mount Aloysius College (5-18, 5-11 AMCC) currently sits in sixth place, the final playoff spot, however Franciscan University (5-18, 4-12, AMCC) is right on their heels in the seventh spot and still has the opportunity to earn that final playoff berth. Pitt-Greensburg (6-16, 4-12 AMCC), tied with Franciscan for seventh, and D'Youville College (6-16, 3-13 AMCC) in eighth place also remain as bubble teams with the potential of breaking into the sixth place spot. The Mounties will be traveling to Steubenville, OH on Wednesday evening to take on the Barons in the AMCC Game of the Week.

Antonio Alvarez, Hilbert College, Men's BasketballFebruary 12, 2018Alvarez shot the lights out this past week, as he went 17-for-18 from three-point range, for an astounding 94%. The freshman led the Hawks to a 2-0 record, averaging 31.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, scoring a career-high 34 points in the win over D'Youville and adding 29 points against Pitt-Greensburg. Alvarez went 10-for-11 from long range against the Spartans before connecting on all seven from downtown against the Panthers. The 6'3" guard shot 77.8 percent from the field last week and currently ranks second in the AMCC with a 42.7 shooting percentage from behind the arc.

Both teams are tied for first place with 13-1 records, with La Roche coming out on top in the teams' first meeting, a 68-48 victory. The Redhawks enter Wednesday's game winners of eleven straight, while the Lions have won their past five games. The game of the week has major implications on who will end up hosting the AMCC championship tournament at the end of the month.

Arnes Bajgora, La Roche College, Men's BasketballFebruary 05, 2018Bajgora averaged a double-double with 21 points and 10.5 rebounds in two conference wins. He had 21 points and 12 rebounds in a 60-51 victory over Mount Aloysius on Wednesday. He then registered 21 points and nine rebounds on Saturday as the Redhawks beat Medaille 88-77 in the AMCC Game of the Week.
