LA ROCHE MEN DRAW JOHNS HOPKINS IN FIRST ROUND OF NCAA TOURNAMENT

La Roche College (21-6) earned their second NCAA Tournament berth after defeating Penn State Behrend 77-74 in Sunday's AMCC Championship Game. The Redhawks will travel to Baltimore, Maryland and face host Johns Hopkins in an NCAA Tournament First Round game on Friday at 7:30pm. The La Roche/Johns Hopkins winner will advance to play the MIT/Brockport winner in a second round game on Saturday night.

Johns Hopkins (23-4) earned an automatic berth after defeating Swathmore on the road in the Centennial Conference Championship. The Blue Jays are led by their senior post Kyle Doran and junior guard Michael Gardner. First year head coach Josh Loeffler guided his squad back to the NCAA Tournament after making a Sweet 16 run in 2015.

La Roche will face a stingy Johns Hopkins' defense. The Blue Jays rank second in the nation in scoring defense and limit opponents to just 61.7 points per game.

The Redhawks are hoping to create the same offensive result as in their AMCC Championship run. La Roche shot 49% from the field and 43% from three in their two victories. La Roche's 77 points against Behrend was the most the Lions have allowed all season. Behrend entered the game as the nation's leader in scoring defense.

La Roche enters the NCAA Tournament winners of 16 of 17 and just one loss since the new year. Johns Hopkins is riding a thirteen game win-streak. La Roche's success may revolve around their ability to make threes. The Redhawks average 8 three-pointers a game while Johns Hopkins are limiting opponents to just three.

The La Roche/Johns Hopkins winner will advance to play the MIT/Brockport winner in a second round game on Saturday night.
