The AMCC men's basketball game of the week features a showdown of the leagues top two teams, La Roche College and Penn State Behrend. Both teams are tied for first place with 13-1 records, with La Roche coming out on top in the teams' first meeting, a 68-48 victory. The Redhawks enter Wednesday's game winners of eleven straight, while the Lions have won their past five games. The game of the week has major implications on who will end up hosting the AMCC championship tournament at the end of the month.

La Roche senior forward Arnes Bajgora is the reigning AMCC Player of the Week. He averages 12.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game and is averaging 23.3 points and 10.7 rebounds over the past three games. Sophomore guard Trell Thomas and junior guard RayQuan Phifer are two of the top scorers in the AMCC. Thomas averages 16.2 points per game and had 20 points, six rebounds and five assists in the Redhawks’ victory over Behrend earlier this year. Phifer is fourth at 14.8 points per game and also ranks among the conference leaders in steals and assists. He is coming off a 24 point performance in Saturday’s victory over Medaille. La Roche is the top rebounding team in the AMCC. They average 78.9 points per game while conceding just 67.6 points to opponents.

Penn State Behrend’s number one ranked defense has held opponents to an average of 57.7 points per game, and has played a key role in helping the Lions sustain a five-game winning streak and undefeated record at home. Junior forward Dan Wanker leads the Lions in both points and rebounds, averaging 12.6 points while pulling down 7.0 boards per game. Sophomore guard Derrick Clark has been instrumental in the success of the Lions with his conference-leading 47.7 three-point percentage. Behrend holds a 45-25 edge in the all-time series against La Roche, defeating them in three of the last four meetings. Clark led the Lions with 14 points off the bench during their last meeting with the Redhawks.
