PENN ST. ALTOONA BASKETBALL HOSTS SPECIAL EVENTS DURING DOUBLE-HEADER

The Penn State Altoona men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted several special events during their doubleheader on Saturday, February 3 in the Adler Arena.

Prior to the men’s game, Penn State Altoona held a Military and First Responder Appreciation event. Local members of the military, veterans, and first responders were recognized during a pregame ceremony and treated to refreshments during the game. Additionally, a special ceremony was held during the national anthem, featuring the Penn State Altoona ROTC Color Guard and the displaying of a large American flag on the court.

During both the men’s and women’s games, players and coaches for Penn State Altoona laced up with gold shoelaces to show their support for the Go4TheGoal organization, which is aimed at helping kids with cancer to achieve their goals despite the disease. For more information on Go4TheGoal, including how to get involved and donate to their cause, visit www.go4thegoal.org.

Members of Penn State Altoona Benefitting THON also collected money from fans during both the men’s and women’s games to raise funds for Penn State’s fight against pediatric cancer. THON is a Penn State University-wide, student-run philanthropy whose goal is to enhance the lives of children stricken with cancer and assist their families.
