  • MEDAILLE'S DEMPSEY EARNS ECAC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

    The Eastern College Athletic Conference announced their Men's Volleyball Players of the Week on Tuesday and Medaille junior setter Matt Dempsey was named the Division III - North Player of the Week.

    Dempsey was all over the place for the Mavericks last week, as Medaille clinched a spot in the NEAC postseason. Dempsey dished out 82 assists on the offensive end and was just as good on the other side of the net. He led all Mavericks with 28 digs and also had two blocks including a solo block. 
  • Ryan Kilijanski, D'Youville College, Men's Volleyball

    Kilijanski had an outstanding week, helping the Spartans earn a win on Saturday. On Wednesday against Penn State-Behrend, Kilijanski had 28 assists with nine digs and a service ace, narrowly missing a double-double. In the first match of the day against Wilson on Saturday, Kilijanski tied his season high with 48 assists and another nine digs in the 3-2 victory over Wilson, adding five kills and two blocks. Then against Penn State-Altoona in the second game he tallied 39 assists to go with seven digs, four kills, and three service aces. The junior setter is first in the AMCC in service aces and fourth in the conference in assists.
  • PENN STATE BEHREND CLAIMS FIRST-EVER AMCC MEN'S VOLLEYBALL TITLE

    The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team claimed their first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship in the seven-year history of the conference sport after posting a 3-1 record during the regular season.

    Downs had another standout week for the Lions, helping his team go 3-0 -- including a pair of conference wins. In Thursday night's 3-1 win at Thiel, he led the team with 13 kills and posted a .579 attack percentage. In Saturday's 3-1 victory over NEAC foe Keuka, Downs had 13 kills and swung at a .571 clip. In Sunday's 3-0 sweep of NEAC/AMCC opponent Medaille, he again led the team in kills with 11 to go along with a .550 hitting percentage, three solo blocks, and two block assists. On the week, Downs had 37 kills (3.36 kills per set) and five total blocks (0.45 blocks per set), totaling 41.0 points (3.7 points per set). He posted an excellent .567 attack percentage, committing just three attack errors in 11 sets all week.

    Downs had a huge week for the Lions, helping the team go 2-0 with a great performance in the middle. In Monday's 3-0 win over NEAC opponent Wilson, Downs finished with eight digs, six kills, three solo blocks, and one block assist. In Saturday's 3-1 victory over AMCC foe Penn State Behrend, he posted a career-high eight solo blocks to go along with two block assists, and he also had 11 kills while swinging at a .478 clip. On the week, Downs had 17 kills (2.43 kills per set), 14 total blocks (11 solo blocks, 3 block assists, 2.00 blocks per set), and eight digs (1.14 digs per set). He finished with a .311 attack percentage and totaled 29.5 points (4.2 points per set).

    Hildebrand had two double-doubles in a pair of matches for Behrend this week. He tallied 13 kills and 15 digs against Medaille and then added 15 kills and 10 digs in the win over John Jay. Hildebrand also had three aces and two blocks in each match.
  • Tyler Herrmann, Penn State Behrend, Men's Volleyball

    Herrmann tallied 23 kills and 23 digs in a 2-0 week for the Lions. He had double-digit digs in both matches, recording a double-double with 15 kills and 13 digs in a 3-2 win over Altoona. He also had five blocks and four aces for the week.
  • Brazil Thompson, Medaille College, Men's Volleyball

    Thompson had a very good all-around week for the Mavericks, as Medaille played five total matches in a span of just three days. In those five matches Thompson spiked a team high 47 kills, averaging a team best 2.76 kills per set. He was just as sound defensively, earning 19 digs and five total blocks, three of which were solo blocks.

    Stroh had another solid week for the Spartans. In the Spartans' lone match of the week, Stroh led the team over Hiram with 13 kills, six digs, and tied for the team lead in blocks with four. He added one service ace in the match. Stroh is currently leads the AMCC in kills/set (4.12), is second in kills (136), and is third in hitting percentage (.307). He leads D'Youville in kills, kills/set, and service aces/set and is second in digs, digs/set, and hitting percentage.

    Sprentz averaged 10.17 assists in a pair of wins this week for the Lions. He dished out 34 assists with six digs vs. D'Youville College and then added 27 assists, nine digs, three blocks and one ace vs. Hiram. 
  • GENEVA HIRES CURT CONSER TO BEGIN MEN'S VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM

    Geneva College was recently announced as being the newest affiliate member in the AMCC for the sport of men's volleyball. The Golden Tornadoes have chosen a familiar face to be the groundbreaking coach for the newly established men's volleyball program, former Geneva women's volleyball coach Curt Conser.  Conser spent 16 years helping coach the Geneva women's volleyball team before departing two years ago to give more focus to his family and to his role as the Director of the Infinity Volleyball Club in Salem, Ohio.
  • BEHREND'S HILDEBRAND NAMED ECAC NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK

    In addition to picking up AMCC player of the week honors, Penn State Behrend sophomore outside hitter Dillon Hildebrand has been named the  Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men's Volleyball Division III North Region Player of the Week.

    Hildebrand averaged 4.62 kills per set in three matches this weekend for the Lions. He set a career high with 19 kills in a 3-1 win over Hiram and then reset his career best with 23 kills in a five-set match against St. John Fisher. He also added 24 digs, three aces and three assists for the week. 
  • Tommy Kisick, Penn State Altoona, Men's Volleyball

    Kisick powered the Lions' offense to four 3-0 sweeps in the Misericordia University Cougar Kickoff Classic this past Friday and Saturday, and he was named the tournament MVP at the conclusion of the weekend as Penn State Altoona took the tournament championship. On Friday, he posted 15 assists, four aces, two kills, and two digs against the College of St. Elizabeth before coming back with 21 assists, four digs, and three total blocks against host school Misericordia. On Saturday, Kisick totaled 12 assists, one kill, and one ace against Neumann University before capping the weekend with 23 assists, four digs, two kills, and two total blocks versus Hiram College. On the week, Kisick put up 71 assists (6.45 assists per set), 10 digs (0.91 digs per set), eight kills (0.73 kills per set), five aces (0.45 aces per set), and five total blocks (0.45 blocks per set).
