HILBERT, BEHREND RECOGNIZED BY ABCA WITH TEAM ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE AWARD

The Hilbert College and Penn State Behrend baseball teams were honored with this year's American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award. This award recognizes teams coached by ABCA members that posted a GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the 2019-20 academic year.

Neely improved to 2-0 this season, pitching a complete game shutout in the Barons match up with North Central. Neely pitched all seven innings, allowing just five hits while recording four strikeouts.

Avallone had a big week for the Pioneers, as he recorded a .441 batting average by going 15-for-34 at the plate. Avallone collected hits in nine of the team's 10 games last week. He hit .441 while recording a .794 slugging percentage. He smashed three homeruns, collected 15 RBIs, and scored seven runs.

AMCC CANCELLING CONFERENCE PLAY FOR SPRING SEASON

The AMCC Presidents Council has voted unanimously to cancel conference competition for the remainder of the academic year, effective immediately.

Thomas led the Redhawks to a 5-4 victory against Swarthmore College Sunday afternoon at Day One of the Snowbird baseball classic on Sunday (3/9). Thomas got the start and his first win of the season. He gave up just one earned run in 6.1 innings pitched, striking out six batters while only walking one. Thomas threw just 80 pitches, as 55 of them were strikes.

O'Shei had an outstanding week to lead the Hawks to a 4-3 record. O'Shei started all seven games and finished with a .409 batting average, .536 on base percentage and belted his first career home run in game two against Eastern Nazerene. The senior leadoff hitter also scored 10 runs and stole five bases to pace the offense. Defensively, the senior backstop threw out both runners who attempted to steal on him while behind the dish to help shut down the opponents run game.

Pitt-Bradford senior pitcher Ryan Boyer has been recognized by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America and D3baseball.com for his early season performances for the Panthers. Boyer was named Pitcher of the Week by the NCWBA and placed on the Team of the Week by D3baseball.com.

Boyer threw his second straight two-hit shutout for Pitt-Bradford in a 9-0 victory over wells. Boyer struck out 13 batters without allowing a walk. He pitched the final five innings of the game without allowing a hit. This was the second straight two-hit shutout for boyer who has struck out 33 batters in 18 innings pitched.

Hoops hit .545 in the Panthers three-game sweep of Wells over the weekend. He recorded two hits in each of the games and hit four triples. Hoops scored four runs, drove in four and stole two bases. Hoops also drew a walk and was hit by pitches twice, adding up to a .643 on-base percentage from the leadoff spot. He also played all 23 innings at shortstop without committing an error.

MEDAILLE BASEBALL RAISES $8,500 FOR CANCER RESEARCH

The Medaille College baseball team was back at it Sunday afternoon as they held their 2nd annual "Goin' Bald For Bucks" event.

Santobuono has a pair of victories in the Pioneers first six games. He threw six shutout innings (three hits) with eight strikeouts vs. Wesley last weekend and then threw another six innings in a victory over Brockport. Versus Brockport, he allowed six hits and two earned runs while walking one and striking out three. He is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA thus far in 12 innings of work.

Johnson has had a great start to the 2020 season. He collected hits in five of the team's first six games, including four multi-hit games. He recorded a double, a triple, two homeruns and drove in seven runs.

Despite former La Roche University head coach Chase Rowe stepping down from the helm earlier this year, the seven-time AMCC baseball champions are still expected to defend their league title, according to league coaches.

Earlier this week, La Roche University's Head Baseball Coach, Chase Rowe, announced on twitter that he has accepted a position with a minor league affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.
