AMCC WOMEN'S TENNIS TOURNAMENT SLATED FOR THIS WEEKEND
The AMCC women's tennis championship tournament kicks off this Saturday at Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, PA.
The AMCC women's tennis championship tournament kicks off this Saturday at Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, PA. Top seed Pitt-Greensburg will take on No. 4 Mount Aloysius College at 3:30pm, while No. 2 Penn State Behrend will face No. 3 Penn State Altoona following the first match.
Pitt-Greensburg enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed with a 5-0 record. The Bobcats are led by freshmen Gabi Moder and Nancy Jiang who went 5-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, this season. Pitt-Greensburg also saw success from sophomore Devin Ulmer this fall, who went 4-1 in the No. 3 singles spot. The Bobcats feature the only two doubles pairs in the conference who have gone 5-0 this season, including Moder and Ulmer in the top doubles spot and Jiang and Summer Popella in the No. 2 doubles position.
Penn State Behrend enters the tournament with a 4-1 record and is the No. 2 seed. Sophomore Linsdey Kerlin went 5-0 in AMCC play, going 2-0 at No. 3 and 3-0 at the No. 4 spot. Freshman Enisa Siljkovic put together a 4-1 record in singles play, splitting time between the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. Kerlin and Siljkovic went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles while Lauren Burkley and Keri Saulino compiled a 2-0 record at the No. 2 spot.
With a 3-2 conference record, Penn State Altoona enters as the No. 3 seed. Lexi Colaianni and Daniel Fulton each went 4-0 in singles play. Colaianni split time between the No. 5 and No. 6 positions, while Fulton played in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots. Sienna Fell and Abigail Morgan picked up a 2-1 record at No. 2 doubles for the Lions.
Rounding out the field is No. 3 seed Mount Aloysius College. Mountie sophomore Lauryn Kitchen went 3-0 at No. 3 singles.
The winners of Saturday's matches will square off on Sunday at 1:30pm for the AMCC Championship.
