Penn State Altoona women’s soccer finishes off its regular season schedule with a road game at nearby AMCC rival Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday night. With a postseason tournament berth now clinched, the Lions will be looking to wrap up a first-round home game in the upcoming AMCC playoffs. Senior forward/midfielder Mallorie Smith has been having an excellent season, as she leads the conference in shots on goal (43) and shot attempts (64) while being second in goals scored (13) and third in points (28). Fellow senior forward/midfielder Camryn Kurilla is ninth in the conference in assists (5), 15th in shots on goal (16), 16th in shots attempted (28), and 19th in points (13). Between the goal pipes, freshman keeper Nicole Schwartz is third in the AMCC in saves (61) and fourth in wins (4).
The Mountie women go into Tuesday’s game looking to capture a spot in postseason play. Led on offense by team point leader Katie Figinski and AMCC assist leader Jordan Mason, Mount Aloysius earned the 12-0 victory over Wells College to put themselves at 4-4 in conference play. Defensive point leader Jessie Forrest, as well as goalkeeper Courtney Vought, will look to continue strong play from the backfield as the Mounties seek a third consecutive shutout. Mount Aloysius secures the #4 position in the postseason with a win, #6 with a tie, and would fail to make the tournament with a loss.
