WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM ANNOUNCED; UPG SWEEPS TOP AWARDS
Pitt-Greensburg freshman forward Ashley Lucas has been named the 2019 AMCC Newcomer and Offensive Player of the Year.
Pitt-Greensburg freshman forward Ashley Lucas has been named the 2019 AMCC Newcomer and Offensive Player of the Year. Lucas led the AMCC in goals (22), assists (11), points (55), shots (101), shots-on-goal (57), and game-winning-goals (11). She also led NCAA Division III in game-winning-goals. Lucas also finished the regular season ranking second in Division III in points and fourth in in goals. The rookie recorded a point in 17 of the 18 games played and tallied a goal in 15 of 18 games. She had four multi-goal games, including a season-high four goals at Pitt-Bradford (9/21/19). Lucas was also named the AMCC Offensive Player of the Week on three different occasions (Oct. 21, Sept. 23, Sept. 16).
Pitt-Greensburg sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Yoder has earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Yoder led the AMCC in wins (16), goals allowed (5), goals-against-average (0.29), save percentage (.938), and shutouts (13) during the regular season. She also led NCAA Division III in shutouts (13), was second in save percentage (.938), and sixth in goals-against-average (0.29). Yoder was a three-time AMCC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 28, Oct. 21, Sept. 16) this season.
AMCC Coach of the Year honors goes to Pitt-Greensburg head coach Chuck Wigle. Wigle led the Bobcats to an 18-0-1 overall record, going 9-0-1 in conference play. The Bobcats won their first AMCC regular season title, hosting the conference championship game for the first time in program history. Pitt-Greensburg went on to win the AMCC title game, 3-2.
