WEYAND, BELACK NAMED NAMED ECAC ALL-STARS; WEYAND DEFESIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR

Penn State Behrend women's soccer junior Rachel Weyand has been named the 2016 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Defensive Player of the Year and joins junior Olivia Belack on the All-Star Team.

Weyand is earning her second Defensive Player of the Year honors after receiving the same award in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC). This is also the second straight year receiving a spot on the All-Star Team. Weyand recently was selected to the All-Great Lakes Region Team in addition to earning All-AMCC first-team accolades. She started every game on defense and helped the team post a 1.14 goals-against average while recording nine shutouts. Weyand also contributed on offense with two goals, including one game winner, and four assists for eight points.

Coming off All-Region honors, Belack is making her first appearance on the All-Star Team. She set a new school record for career points this season with 53 and broke the single-season assists record with 13, while registering an AMCC-best 20 goals. The AMCC Offensive Player of the Year and first-team choice ranks nationally in the Top 10 for points and assists. Belack registered a point in 15 of the 21 games played, averaging almost a goal a game and 2.52 points per contest. She tallied seven points on two occasions, including a hat trick and an assist in the win over North Central.
