MEDAILLE NAMES DAVID SARDO HEAD MEN'S AND WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY COACH

Medaille College Director of Athletics Susan Roarke has announced this afternoon the hiring of David Sardo as the next head coach of the men's and women's cross country teams.

Sardo is a Canisius College alumnus who comes to Medaille with an extensive background in the sports of cross country and track and field, most recently he has been the coach at Hutchinson Tech in Buffalo, NY where he also works as a physical education teacher. He has over 30 years of experience in the sports.

"I was thrilled to receive the appointment as cross country coach at Medaille," Sardo said. "I was a long time coach in the Buffalo Public Schools at Hutch-Tech and I'm proud to say that we had quite a bit of success. I'd like to try to continue that trend at Medaille."

Coach Sardo envisions a team that is known for their tenacity.  He would like to create a family atmosphere where the runners are extremely close and run hard for one another.  He also will have them prepared by working hard during the season and in the offseason. "The expectation for athletes on the Medaille team will be simply to set goals and attack them with enthusiasm, seriousness and passion," Sardo explained. "I expect athletes on the Medaille team to work hard for themselves and each other and to be excellent ambassadors for the school. When not racing, I expect our athletes to be strong students and great representatives of our team to the rest of the Medaille campus."

Sardo lives in Tonawanda, NY with his wife LuAnn.
