HIRAM MEN'S VOLLEYBALL TO FACE VASSAR IN OPENING ROUND OF NCAA TOURNAMENT

Hiram College men's volleyball will face the 4th-ranked Vassar College Brewers in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday, April 21 at 4:30 p.m. EST at the Salem Civic Center.
 
Vassar, ranked No. 4 in the latest National Volleyball Association /American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Men's Coaches Top 15 Poll, heads into the NCAA Tournament at 8-3 (5-3 UVC).
 
The Brewers finished the regular season at 6-3, and headed into the United Volleyball Conference Championship as the No. 2 seed, where they topped No. 6-seeded St. John Fisher in the semifinals, 3-2, before upsetting the No. 1 seed, SUNY New Paltz, 3-1, in the final to claim their first UVC title.
 
Vassar is making their third appearance in the NCAA Tournament over the past five years, having made it all the way to the national semifinals in 2018.
 
Sophomore Andrew Kim leads the way for the Brewers with 160 kills (3.48/set), while freshman AJ Erickson has notched a team-high 305 assists (7.44/set).
 
Kim also leads Vassar with 40 service aces (0.30/set), while junior Matt Usui leads the Brewers, defensively, with 115 digs. Three Brewers have tallied 20.0-plus blocks, led by senior Ryan Duchemin with 33.0.
 
The Terriers will make their first appearance in the NCAA Tournament in program history, coming off their first AMCC regular season and conference tournament championships.
 
Hiram earned the No. 1 seed in the AMCC Championship Tournament with a perfect 7-0 record in conference play, and topped Penn St. Altoona, 3-0, in the tournament semifinals, before coming from behind to defeat Penn St. Behrend, 3-2, in the championship final.
 
The Terriers and Brewers will face off in the opening round of the 2021 NCAA Div. III Men's Volleyball Tournament in Salem, Va. On Wednesday, April 21 at 2:30 p.m., with the winner advancing to the quarterfinals to take on Dominican University (Ill.) on April 22.
