BEHREND MEN'S TENNIS CLAIMS ATLANTIC EAST CHAMPIONSHIP
The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) and Atlantic East Crossover Championship, defeating Marymount University 4-2 on Sunday at the Hershey Racquet Club.
The Penn State Behrend men's tennis team won the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) and Atlantic East Crossover Championship, defeating Marymount University 4-2 on Sunday at the Hershey Racquet Club.
Behrend completes their season with a pair of championships, as the Lions claimed the AMCC Championship last weekend to advance to the Atlantic East Crossover Championship.
The Lions won two of the three doubles matches and three singles matches for the victory. Jonathon Laier and Graham Louis posted a 6-1 decision at No. 1 doubles. Vitaliy Pikalo and Paul Flick got the doubles point for the Lions with a 6-4 win in the third spot. Behrend won the third, fourth and fifth singles to end the match unfinished. Pikalo and Louis were double winners, picking up singles wins in the third and fourth spot, respectively. Pikalo defeated Gunek Singh 6-4, 7-6 for a point, while Louis tallied a 6-2, 6-0 win. William Thomas, playing in the fifth spot, fell in the second set to pull off the tiebreaker win at 6-2, 2-6, 6-4.
Behrend finishes the season 13-8 overall.
