BEHREND MEN'S SOCCER ADVANCES TO ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

BEHREND MEN'S SOCCER ADVANCES TO ECAC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Penn State Behrend (15-5-2) sophomore M/F Blake Cooper scored the game-winning goal nearly four minutes into the game to lead the Penn State Behrend men's soccer team past Alvernia University (11-5-6) 1-0 in the 2022 ECAC Tournament Semifinals on Saturday morning.

The Lions defeated the hosts of the tournament thanks to the heroics of Cooper, as Behrend's nationally-ranked defense in goals-against average and shutouts stood the test by the Golden Wolves. Goalie Sam York made four saves for his 13th shutout of the season and the team's 17th. Cooper scored his team-leading 11th goal with an unassisted tally at the 3:52 mark of the first half. The Lions held an 18-11 shots, including 12-5 in the first half. Behrend will battle for its second ECAC title in program history, as they won their last ECAC Championship in 2009.

The Behrend Lions will face the winner of Rutgers-Newark and New Jersey City. Game time is Sunday, November 20 at 12 p.m.
