FRANCISCAN'S HERRMANN HONORED AS THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICANDecember 01, 2017Franciscan University senior forward Leo Herrmann was named to the United Soccer Coaches' (formally the NSCAA) All-America third team, as announced late Thursday evening. Herrmann is the first All-American for the Baron soccer program.

SIX MEN'S SOCCER PLAYERS EARN ALL-GREAT LAKES REGION HONORSNovember 29, 2017The United Soccer Coaches have released their 2017 regional postseason awards, and six AMCC men's soccer players found their names selected to the All-Great Lakes Region Teams. They include Franciscan University senior Leo Herrmann, Mount Aloysius College freshman Will Funez, Penn State Behrend sophomore Chris Ralph and Senior Matt Dziadosz, and Medaille College sophomores Mitchell Ali and Sam Beesley.

THREE NAMED TO ALL-ECAC TEAM; OBERLANDER NAMED OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEARNovember 29, 2017Penn State Behrend senior forward Jordan Oberlander was named the Division III ECAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year, while Lion senior defender Rachel Weyand was also named to the first team. On the men's side, Franciscan University senior forward Leo Herrmann was named to the All-ECAC first team.

Callum Christie, Medaille College, Men's Soccer - DefensiveNovember 06, 2017Christie was instrumental in the Mavs securing the 2017 AMCC Championship. Christie started off the week by blanking #2 Mount Aloysius, making eight saves in the shutout effort. He played even better in the AMCC Championship game. Christie made three huge saves in regulation, allowing only one goal on a penalty kick early in the second half. Christie then came up big in the penalties, making three stops. Christie also scored what would be the game-clinching goal in the seventh round of penalties.

Anthony Marafiati, Medaille College, Men's Soccer - OffensiveNovember 06, 2017Marafioti did a lot of the heavy lifting earning the assist in the AMCC Championship Game to put the Mavericks up 1-0 late in the first half. Marafioti also scored a goal in the penalty kicks session to keep the pressure on the Lions, forcing them to score on their last attempt to keep the game alive. The Mavs' sophomore captain, is fourth on the team with eight goals, third on the team with five assists and third with 21 points, despite playing most of the time on the back lines.

Chris Ralph, Penn State Behrend, Men's Soccer - DefensiveOctober 30, 2017Ralph recorded three saves in the battle for first-place, including a one-handed save coming from a breakaway opportunity. His defense efforts helped him tally his eighth shut-out of the year, helping the Lions remain undefeated in conference play.

Leo Herrmann, Franciscan University, Men's Soccer - OffensiveOctober 30, 2017Herrmann led the Barons to their first-ever playoff win with a pair of goals against La Roche in the quarterfinals. Herrmann's first goal of the game came just over two minutes into the second half and tied the game at 1-1. That goal also set FUS' single-season point record with his 43rd point of the season. Herrmann scored with just over 22 minutes to play in regulation for his seventh game-winning goal. That goal set FUS' single-season goal record, which was Herrmann's 19th of the season.

Josh Hammer, D'Youville College, Men's Soccer - DefensiveOctober 23, 2017Hammer played a huge role for the Spartans this past week as they went 2-0 in conference play. Beginning with their game on Wednesday against Hilbert, Hammer played a crucial role on the Spartan's defense that allowed just one goal in the 5-1 victory over Hilbert. On Saturday against Penn State-Altoona, Hammer was again a key part of a defense that shutout the Lions, lifting the team to a 3-0 victory. In addition to his major defensive contributions, Hammer added five shots in the two games. As a team captain, Hammer has helped lead the Spartans to currently holding onto the final playoff spot in the AMCC playoffs with one game remaining.

Hunter Sherman, D'Youville College, Men's Soccer - OffensiveOctober 23, 2017Sherman powered the Spartans to a 2-0 record and in pole position for the final playoff spot in the AMCC. Sherman scored a combined six goals to go with one assist for a total of 13 points in two games against Hilbert and Penn State-Altoona. In game one of the week against the Hawks, Sherman scored his first career hat-trick for the men in a 5-1 win, adding his first assist of the season. On Saturday against the Lions, he matched his goal total from the previous game and became the first Spartan in program history to record back-to-back hat-tricks. He leads the team with nine goals, 19 points, and 53 shots. His nine goals are sixth in the AMCC.

Christopher Godet, Mount Aloysius College, Men's Soccer - DefensiveOctober 16, 2017Godet was instrumental in a backline that allowed just one goal in a 3-0 week for Mount Aloysius. He came on at center back as an early sub against Franciscan and stayed there for the remainder of the week, while also contributing goals in victories over Hilbert and Alfred State.

Will Funez, Mount Aloysius College, Men's Soccer - OffensiveOctober 16, 2017Funez was dominant in the attack for the Mounties in a 3-0 week as he scored five goals and contributed one assist. Funez had a goal against Franciscan on Tuesday before adding two goals apiece in wins over Hilbert and Alfred State over the weekend. Funez is now tied for third in conference with nine goals on the season.

Sam Beesley, Medaille College, Men's Soccer - DefensiveOctober 09, 2017Beesley continued his great play in the back end, helping Medaille go 2-0 in AMCC play. Beesley was the key piece to a Maverick back line that helped keep two clean sheets and allow just 11 total shots in two games. Of those 11 shots, only five made it on goal.

Josh Devlin, Mount Aloysius College, Men's Soccer - OffensiveOctober 09, 2017Devlin began the week with a hat trick as he scored the Mounties' first three goals and assisted on the team's fourth goal in a 5-2 victory over Penn State Altoona on Wednesday. He then added another goal in a 2-0 win against D'Youville on Saturday as the Mounties climbed to 3-1 in conference play and 10-2-1 overall.
