FRANCISCAN'S HERRMANN HONORED AS THIRD TEAM ALL-AMERICAN

Franciscan University senior forward Leo Herrmann was named to the United Soccer Coaches' (formally the NSCAA) All-America third team, as announced late Thursday evening. Herrmann is the first All-American for the Baron soccer program.

A total of just 46 players from 418 NCAA Division III men's soccer programs were selected to the USC All-America team. Herrmann was one of only 15 players named to the third team, which included six forwards. He was also the lone Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference representative to capture All-America honors.

Herrmann led the Barons to their most successful season in program history, finishing the year 11-7-2 and making it to the semifinals in the AMCC tournament. The Barons earned a selection to the ECAC tournament for the first time in program history.

Individually, Herrmann finished the year with a career-best 19 goals and eight assists to finish his career at Franciscan with 162 points behind 69 career goals and 24 career assists. Herrmann holds all every major offensive career and single-season record at Franciscan. Among the active career leaders in DIII men's soccer, Herrmann is third in points, fourth in points per game and third in goals. This season, he is ranked sixth nationally in total points (46), seventh in game-winning goals (seven), and eighth in total goals (19).

Herrmann adds the All-American honor to his extensive list of postseason awards he has accumulated over the last four years as a Baron. The forward is a three-time AMCC Offensive Player of the Year, four-time AMCC first team honoree, former AMCC Rookie of the Year, ECAC Rookie of the Year, three-time ECAC South All-Star, and three-time USC/NSCAA all-region honoree. Herrmann earned third-team honors his sophomore year, second team honors his junior year and first team honors this season from the USC.
