Mount Aloysius Head Men's and Women's Soccer Coach Matt Davis recently returned from a five-day trip to the Bahamas where he took in the first ever Bahamas National High School Soccer Championships as well as attended an ID clinic run by the Bahamas Football Association.
Thursday's events included the semifinals for the soccer championships which included teams from throughout the island at Roscow A.L. Davis Soccer Fields. On Friday, the Bahamas Football Association national team coaching staff ran a college ID showcase for recent and upcoming high school graduates. The ID showcase featured over 50 of the top men's and women's players in the Bahamas and was run by BFA coaches Kevin Davies, Dion Peterson, Harvey Mullings, Stephen Bellot, Samuel Thibaud and Ricqea Bain as well as coordinator Dion Godet.
On Saturday, Davis took in the national championships which were won by Saint Augustine Prep on the girls side by a score of 1-0 and Queen's College on the boys side by a final of 2-1.
"The BFA put on a first-class event and I want to thank all of their coaches for allowing me to be a part of it. The event will expand the horizons for their boys and girls high school players and youth team national players looking to come to the states to study and compete at the collegiate level, and I'm looking forward to helping in its growth in the years to come," Davis said.
