ALFRED STATE, HILBERT TO MEET IN MEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Alfred State 23, La Roche 4
Top seed Alfred State earned a 23-4 first round victory over fourth seed La Roche to advance to the AMCC Men's Lacrosse Championship match set for Saturday. The two teams exchanged goals throughout the first quarter, as the Redhawks got the scoring going first when Nolan Lynam connected with the net at the 8:41 mark to put the Redhawks up 1-0. Alfred State's Dom Rosettie answered just 41 seconds later to tie the game at 1-all. La Roche's Ben Cadamore scored next to give La Roche the 2-1 edge, but once again the Pioneers answered less than a minute later when Mike Wojcik found the back of the net to make it 2-2. Cadamore recorded his second goal of the quarter just 30 seconds later to once again put the Redhawks up by one. Alfred State scored the final two goals of the quarter when Griffin Doan and Colby Pasiut each scored a goal in the final 1:09 of the quarter, giving the Pioneers a slim 4-3 lead after one. Despite the tight back-and-forth first quarter, it was all Alfred State the rest of the game. The Pioneers outscored La Roche 9-0 in the second quarter to take a 13-3 lead at halftime. Alfred State added four more goals in the third before outscoring La Roche 6-1 in the final quarter. The Pioneers were led by Griffin Doan with six goals and three assists while Rosetti added five goals and two assists.
Hilbert 7, Pitt-Bradford 6 (OT)
Third seed Hilbert pulled off the upset victory over second seed Pitt-Bradford, with a 7-6 overtime win in the first round of the AMCC playoffs. Pitt-Bradford came out on fire, outscoring the Hawks 3-0 in the first quarter. The Panthers saw goals from Billy Tigar, Julian Florez, and Ben Byers all in the first quarter. Byers added two more goals to start the second quarter, with Pitt-Bradford cruising to a 5-0 lead part way into the second quarter. However, Hilbert wasn't ready to go home quite yet, and started to go on a run of their own. Hilbert's Joey DiMaria recorded two goals with just under 10 minutes to play in the second quarter to make the score 5-2 in favor of the Panthers. The Hawks went on to score three more goals to wrap up the first half, with Ty Franko, Aidan Franko, and Jason Sage all finding the back of the net to tie the game at 5-all heading into halftime. Neither team scored in the third quarter, then Pitt-Bradford's Joshua Held scored with 14:38 to play in the fourth to give the Panthers the 6-5 edge. DiMaria once again came throught for the Hawks, scoring with just :50 on the clock to tie the game at 6-6 and send it into overtime. With 2:56 showing on the clock, Aidan Franko scored for the Hawks, giving Hilbert the 7-6 sudden death victory and sending them to the AMCC championship game.
Alfred State and Hilbert will face off in the AMCC championship game on Saturday at 1:00 on the Alfred State campus.
