BEHREND GOLFERS WIN LA ROCHE FALL INVITATIONAL; UPG's TROUT TAKES INDIVIDUAL TITLE
The Penn State Behrend men's golf team won the La Roche College Fall Invitational with a combined score of 306, placing first out of 11 teams at the Wildwood Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.
The Penn State Behrend men's golf team won the La Roche College Fall Invitational with a combined score of 306, placing first out of 11 teams at the Wildwood Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. The Lions posted a six-stroke difference between second-place La Roche at 312 to win their second tournament of the fall season. Westminster College was third with a 319 for the day.
Pitt-Greensburg junior Javon Trout took home the individual title after firing a one under 70.
Behrend had three golfers in the top 10, led by senior Ryan Matlock with a low score of 73. He fired a 37 on the front and then carded a 36 on the back to tie for second overall.
Freshman Jack Perfett and junior Noah Kunst tied for fourth overall with a 76 for the course. Perfett tallied a team-low 35 on the front and recorded a 41 on the back for his total. Kunst shot a 39 on the front nine holes and 37 on the back for the Lions.
La Roche senior Ben Mullins shot a 73, including a 34 on the front nine which had him tied for the lead at the turn. Sophomore David Wilson shot a 77 and an even-par 36 on the front nine to tie for sixth place. Sophomore Pat McCall entered the clubhouse with a 79 (38-41) which placed him in the top 10.
Other AMCC golfers landing in the top 10 included Pitt-Bradford senior Brett Gardner (78/8th place) and freshman Cary Ignaczak (79/T-9th place), as well as Penn State Altoona freshman Payton Guelich (79/T-9th place).
