AMCC GOLFERS COMPLETE FINAL TUNE UP BEFORE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP

Four AMCC men's golf teams returned to action this afternoon in the Hilbert College Invitational. The tournament was held at Brierwood Country Club in Hamburg, NY and was the final tune-up of the year before heading to the AMCC Championships this weekend.

Medaille College won the team tournament with a score of 316/ 28. Pitt-Bradford also scored 316/ 28, but Medaille won based on the fifth score where they held a four shot edge on the Panthers.  Medaille's gold team placed third overall carding a team score 332/ 44.  The host Hilbert Hawks 346/ 58 finished fourth and D'Youville College rounded out the scoring with a 375/ 87.

Mavs junior Chuck Panepinto led the Mavericks with a season-low 75/ 3 to earn medalist honors. Sophomore Bobby Merino was runner-up as he carded a career best 76/ 4 out of the fifth spot in the lineup, helping to secure the Medaille victory. Corey Donoghue came in with an 81/ 9, Adam Kroll shot an 84/ 12 and Ryan Langhorne shot 87/ 15.

Panther sophomore Matt Moonan paced the Panthers as he fired a 77, the third-best score recorded at the event. Freshman Cary Ignaczak was two strokes behind at 79, tied for fifth-best in the event. Both with scores of 80, senior Brett Gardner and sophomore Sam Marchini tied seventh.

Medaille junior Jeremiah Gamble led Medaille's Gold Team with a career-low 79/ 7 to finish in the top five overall. Hilbert junior Jeffrey Morgan, for the second consecutive match, carded a personal-best 78 on the par 72 course, as he finished in fourth place on the afternoon. D'Youville's Sean Corp led the Spartans with a 91/ 19.
