BEHREND GOLFERS IN FIRST PLACE AFTER DAY ONE OF AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP
The Penn State Behrend men's golf team shot a team-low 295 to lead the AMCC Championship on Sunday at the Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club.
The Penn State Behrend men's golf team shot a team-low 295 to lead the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships on Sunday at the Avalon Lakes Golf and Country Club. The Lions shot 13 strokes below their average to take a 17-stroke lead over second-place Penn State Altoona (312) with their best showing at the conference championships at 295. Medaille College finished third with a 313 total followed by Pitt-Bradford and La Roche College, who tied for fourth with 314.
The reigning AMCC Champion, Behrend senior Sean Sculley tied for first with freshman teammate Jack Perfett and Medaille senior Cory Donoghue with a 72 on the day. Sculley and Perfett not only ended with the same score but they also shot the same on the front nine (36) and the back nine (36), while Donoghue carded a 33 and 39.
There was a four-way tie for fourth place, as Pitt-Bradford freshman Cary Ignaczak, Penn State Behrend senior Ryan Matlock, La Roche senior Ben Mullins, and Penn State Altoona freshman Luke Hoffnagle all finished day one with a 74 to sit two strokes behind the leaders.
