HILBERT'S STUDENT ASSISTANT COACH ATTENDS FIRST ANNUAL NCAA COLLEGE BASKETBALL ACADEMY

Hilbert College men’s basketball student-assistant coach Matt Hartman (’21) spent the end of July rubbing elbows with some of college basketball’s top coaches at the first annual NCAA College Basketball Academy at the University of Connecticut.

The Academy is a developmental boys basketball summer exposure event for prospective student-athletes in the class of 2020, 2021, and 2022.  Hartman served as a court supervisor assisting college coaches with drills, evaluating scrimmage play, and keeping each training session on schedule.

As a member of the academy’s staff, Hartman joined other coaches and managers in completing requirements for the USA Basketball Gold License – a program focusing on educating coaches to further be able to serve their programs.

Hartman worked alongside multiple Division II and Division III head coaches while mentoring close to 400 future student-athletes during two sessions from July 21 – 28.

A Sport Industry Management major at Hilbert, Hartman carries a 3.57 GPA.
