AMCC BASEBALL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM ANNOUNCED
Pitt-Greensburg junior outfielder James Domer has been named the AMCC Player of the Year.
Pitt-Greensburg junior outfielder James Domer has been named the AMCC Player of the Year. Domer recorded a .475 batting average on the season, ranking him fifth in the nation and first in the AMCC. He hit .509 against AMCC teams, ranking him second in the category in conference play. In 14 conference games, Domer recorded ten extra base hits, two triples, and an .836 slugging percentage ranks second. Defensively, he had a 1.000 fielding percentage on 82 total chances, while also adding three outfield assists.
Pitt-Greensburg sophomore Conner Burkey has been tabbed the AMCC Pitcher of the Year. Burkey led the AMCC with six conference wins and six complete games, while leading the nation (NCAA Division III) with eight complete games on season. Burkey threw the most innings in conference play (42.0) out of all AMCC pitchers, recording a 1.93 ERA in conference play, goof for second-best in the league. His 1.10 WHIP ranks third, while his 34 AMCC strikeouts ranks second.
Newcomer of the Year honors goes to Alfred State College freshman Jordan Hughes. In conference play, Hughes tallied six doubles and two homers for 15 RBI. He led the conference in RBI and was second in homeruns with eight overall. On the mound, he recorded a 3.21 ERA with three wins and 23 strikeouts with a 7.39 k/9.
Penn State Behrend head coach Paul Benim earns his sixth Coach of the Year nod, as he led the Lions to an 11-3 record and their fifth regular season title. The Lions went on to also win the AMCC championship tournament.
