ALFRED STATE'S SERCE, HILBERT'S EVANS EARN ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
D3baseball.com announced its All-America team this week and two AMCC baseball players were honored. Alfred State College senior 1B Nick Serce and Hilbert College junior OF Thomas Evans were both recognized on the fifth team.
D3baseball.com announced its All-America team this week and two AMCC baseball players were honored. Alfred State College senior 1B Nick Serce and Hilbert College junior OF Thomas Evans were both recognized on the fifth team.
Serce hit .408 this season with a slugging percentage of .904 and finished the regular season third in the nation for homeruns with 17. He broke the conference and Alfred State record for single-season homeruns, and is also the all-time leader at Alfred State in homeruns. Serce tallied 11 doubles and 43 RBI during the regular season, recording 51 hits, with over half of them being for extra bases. He fielded 1.000 at 1B in conference play this season.
Evans led the AMCC in plate appearances (201), Runs (59), Total Bases (130), Extra Base Hits (34), and Stolen Bases (16). During the 14-AMCC regular season league schedule, Evans led the AMCC in Batting Average (.463), Slugging Percentage (.944), Extra Base hits (15), and Fielding Percentage (1.000). The 6-5 OF finished second in home runs (12), third in RBI (49) and fourth in hits (67) while posting an impressive 1.315 OPS. Evans established single season records for Hilbert baseball in slugging percentage, at bats, runs, home runs, total bases, games played and started and most walks. In just two years as a Hawk, Evans graduates as the program's leader in batting average (.402), slugging percentage (.723), on-base percentage (.498) and home runs (15).
