PIONEERS ADVANCE TO SEMIFINALS
The Alfred State College baseball team advanced to the AMCC semifinals for the first time in school history with a 17-9 victory over Penn State Altoona on Tuesday afternoon.
The Alfred State College baseball team advanced to the AMCC semifinals for the first time in school history with a 17-9 victory over Penn State Altoona on Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers won the best of three series 2 games to 1 and will head to #1 La Roche University on Friday for the semifinals. First pitch of the best of three series is slated for 1 p.m.
Brody Burdett finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Henby was 3-for-5 with four RBIs. Josh Laurie was 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs and Matteo Avallone finished 2-for-5 with a RBI.
Jon White and Chris Catoire both tossed four innings for the Pioneers. White went the first four and allowed eight hits and three earned runs while walking two and striking out one. Catoire allowed five hits and four earned runs while walking four and striking out four. Chris Baldwin pitched a 1-2-3, 9th inning to close out the contest.
