LA ROCHE CAPTURES FOURTH STRAIGHT AMCC TITLE

The La Roche College Redhawks survived a late game rally by Penn State Behrend to win their fourth straight AMCC baseball championship, 6-4.

The Redhawks (34-8) await word on their pairing in the NCAA Division III tournament, which will be announced Monday.  The Lions (25-19) are strong contenders for an ECAC tournament bid.

The three-time defending champions built a methodical 5-0 lead through the first five innings behind the pitching of Ethan Lewis (3-0), but Behrend struck back with a three-run sixth.  They closed to 5-4 in the eighth but La Roche added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame.

The Lions had runners on the corners in the top of the ninth but LRC closer Shane Emrich took care of business to earn the save, his third of the season.

La Roche saw clutch performances from Joe Professori (2 hits, 2 walks, 2 runs scored) and E.J. Trickett (3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and an RBI).  Behrend standouts included Mason McGuire (2 for 3, 2 RBI, 1 run scored) and Brian Bergstrom (2 RBI).
