HILBERT CAPTAIN BABOSCI TO RECEIVE SPORTS MARKETING AWARD

John Babocsi, a senior baseball player at Hilbert College, has been selected to receive the Collegiate Sales & Marketing Award sponsored by the Buffalo Niagara Sales & Marketing Executives. This award will be presented at the March 3rd Executive of the Year and Elite Sales and Marketing Gala at the Hyatt Regency in down town Buffalo.

The Buffalo Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives recognize their future leaders within the sales and marketing industry by selecting one collegiate applicant, who possesses field experience and is someone who has been involved and contributed towards a professional trade and community or civic organization.

Babocsi served as the Student Marketing manager for a Hilbert College Business Department initiative in 2012. He led a small group of students who researched marketing data, performed a SWOT analysis and finalized the process with several presentations to the college's marketing board and department deans in pursuit of creating new interactive Hilbert.edu website pages.

The senior from Webster, NY also volunteered his time creating Youtube videos used to promote a multi-day baseball tournament held at New Era Park (Depew, NY). In addition, he designed and implemented the organization and structure of several baseball camps and free clinics as well as the distribution of used sports equipment to inner-city athletes.

Since last summer Babocsi has served as a Business Development Intern with the Buffalo Bills focusing on Game Day and Training Camp preparations and during the academic year he is involved with Hilbert College's Business and Communications departments while being very active in Hilbert's Enactus business club (Formerly Students in Free Enterprise).

Babocsi's future plans include earning his MBA degree following his May 2014 graduation. The business administration major, who carries a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average, has a career goal to work in the business development department of a professional baseball organization with lofty aspirations of becoming a general manager in charge of finance and operations of a Major League Baseball team.

In his spare time, Babocsi focuses his efforts on the baseball field as a two-time captain of the Hawks. Since transferring to Hilbert as a sophomore, Babocsi has started every game in royal and white while carrying a .253 batting average. He brought in 23 runs, while earning 46 hits in 61 games. Used primarily as a catcher, he took part in 131 putouts but will shift his defensive coverage zone to the infield in his final season.

Babocsi is a Who's Who Among Students In American Universities and Colleges, an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Academic All-Conference selection, was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma, New York Theta chapter of the National Student-Athlete Academic Honor Society, and is a New York State Phi Beta Lambda Business Association Competition winner while owning a spot on Hilbert College's Dean's List since 2010.
