AMCC 25TH ANNIVERSARY DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI SERIES: BILL McINTOSH, PITT-GREENSBURG

Bill McIntosh was a 2003 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and was a team captain on the most successful men’s soccer team in program history.

Athletically, McIntosh was an outstanding player and integral part of the team's success. He helped lead the Bobcats to their first AMCC Conference championship in 2002 and secured their first NCAA Tournament berth in the process. The 2002 team holds records to this day in the Pitt-Greensburg history books, including the most wins in a season, as they went 19-2.

Multiple accolades came McIntosh’s way throughout his time repping the Bobcats. He was selected to the AMCC All-Conference teams three times, earning honorable mention his sophomore year, second team his junior year, and first team honors in his senior campaign. McIntosh earned attention regionally and nationally, as he was named second team all-region and second team NCAA Academic All-American his senior year.

McIntosh worked as hard in the classroom as he did on the field during his time at Pitt-Greensburg. He obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Information Science and graduated with a 3.6 grade-point-average, earning Magna Cum Laude honors.

When asked how playing soccer and the academics at Pitt-Greensburg helped set him up for his career, McIntosh spoke highly of his time at Pitt-Greensburg:

My entire experience at UPG shaped my life. From a career perspective, my degree was critical to breaking into the technology field directly after graduation. Intellectually, two science courses sparked my intense interest in astronomy and physics which, to this day, still consumes roughly 50% of my leisure readings. During my senior year I created an online business using the university computing labs and the knowledge gained from my coursework. The soccer team provided me with friendships, purpose, and success. In fact, I still play soccer with half a dozen of my former teammates in the Greater Pittsburgh Soccer League.

McIntosh has gone on to be a successful and proud graduate of Pitt-Greensburg, he founded and is the president of Synergy Media Group and BrightTree Studios. Synergy Media Group is a build firm that installs the technology. BrightTree Studios is a technology consultant specializing in audiovisual, telecom, and security design for higher education, corporate, healthcare, and government.

On a day-to-day basis, McIntosh is in charge of company strategy, design meetings, proposals, and leading a team of 20 employees. He and his team have completed projects for a number of prestigious universities, including the University of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, West Virginia, Clemson, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, Johns Hopkins, and Virginia Tech. McIntosh is happily married to Jillian Bateman-McIntosh and is a father to three girls, Riley (11), Morgan (9), and Quinn (6). He ends with this advice to current AMCC athletes; “Never again in your life will you have so much time with so little responsibility. Make new friends, go to parties, attend humanities events, break a few rules, ponder the existence of God, debate politics, enlighten yourself, and leave it all on the field.”

The Distinguished Alumni Series is part of the AMCC's 25th anniversary where the conference will be recognizing former AMCC student-athletes who have excelled in their area of study. The Distinguished Alumni Series will run every Thursday throughout the academic year.
