AMCC 25TH ANNIVERSARY DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI SERIES: RYAN SANTOS, ALFRED STATE COLLEGE

Ryan Santos went to Alfred State College with a goal to continue his passion for baseball. He enrolled in the sport management program and secured a spot on the baseball team to begin that journey.

Santos, a 2019 Alfred State graduate, battled for playing time during his first three years wearing the Pioneers blue & gold. He appeared in 23 games, mostly as an outfielder. Nearing graduation, he decided to pursue avenues that would help him with life after college.

Santos started his journey in professional sports with internships with the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Kastles (World Team Tennis) before taking a role on the coaching staff at Alfred State. During the 2018-19 school year, Santos ran the analytics for the program and served as an assistant hitting coach. He studied data collected at practices and games to help ASC prepare for their opponents.

The opportunity with Alfred State led Santos into the professional ranks as he spent two baseball seasons in the Dominican Republic working for the Oakland Athletics and the Baltimore Orioles. He was a Scouting Assistant with the A’s and a Video Technology Coordinator for the Orioles.

After his experience with the Orioles, he was a field manager with Perfect Game USA for the fall of 2020 before jumping on an opportunity with the Pittsburgh Pirates. During the 2021 baseball season, Santos served as a Minor League Operations Assistant and worked with the organization in Bradenton, FL.

Santos looks forward to continue to pursue his passion for baseball and is excited to see what lies ahead next on his journey.
