MOUNTIE SOCCER TEAMS TEAM UP WITH LOCAL COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT GROUP

On Sunday, April 9, 45 members of the Mount Aloysius College men's and women's soccer teams participated in a community service project in connection with the West End Improvement Group in Johnstown, PA.

The Mounties helped weed and mulch the West End Community Gardens to prepare the area to grow vegetables and plants this spring and summer for the local community, and another part of the group cleaned, painted and fixed Fairfield Avenue's Oakhurst Playground in the city. This is the second consecutive year the Mountie soccer teams have participated in the project with West End.

"After participating last spring and seeing the improvements we helped make for the community and children in the area with the gardens and playground, our players were excited to get back and work with West End once again," head soccer coach Matt Davis said. "We had another great day in the sun and look forward to keeping the relationship going with the West End Improvement Group."
