MOUNT ALOYSIUS' GOLDYN TWINS NAMED FAR AWARD WINNERS

For the first time in conference history, the AMCC Faculty Athletic Representatives (FARs) have selected twins as the recipients of the 2019 Faculty Athletics Representatives Award, and the recipients are, well, GoldynMount Aloysius College senior twins Nick Goldyn and Emily Goldyn have earned the prestigious honor after a successful four years in the classroom, in the community, and on the tennis courts. The Goldyn twins were chosen from among 18 outstanding student-athletes named to the All-Academic Team.

Nick Goldyn graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2019 with a 3.97 GPA in History/Polticial Science, while also picking up an English minor. He was a Mercy Presidential Scholar, was on the Dean's List every semester, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society. Goldyn served as a supplemental instruction leader, while also working as a Research Assistant. He also served as a debate researcheer for the 79th State Representative District and the 30th State Senate Distrcit. Athletically, Goldyn was a member of the Mountie men's tennis team where he played in the No. 1 Doubles and No. 3 Singles spots. He picked up 54 career wins, while going 14-1 at No. 1 Doubles and 10-3 at No. 2 Singles this season. For his standout play on the courts, he earned first team all-conference honors in doubles and second team all-conference honors in doubles. Goldyn received the 2019 Coach's Award and was the 2019 Male Scholar Athlete of the Year at Mount Aloysius. Additionally, Goldyn volunteered with the St. Vincent De Paul Soup Kitchen and American Heart Association and also participated in the College's Catholic Charities Hurricane Mission Trip to Houston.

Emily Goldyn graduated Magna Cum Laude with a 3.96 GPA, double majoring in Psychology and Criminology with a conentration in Forensic Investigation. She was a Mercy Presidential Scholar and was on the Dean's List every semester. She was named Outstanding Student in both the Criminology and Psychology departments and was a member of the Chi Alpha Sigms honor society. Goldyn served as an FBI honors intern from 2017-2019, working in New York, Pittsburgh, and Quantico, VA, while also interning at the Cambria County District Attorney's office. As a member of the Mounties women's tennis team, Goldyn played in the No. 1 Singles and Doubles positions all four years, recording 54 career wins. She earned second team all-conference honors in 2018 for No. 2 doubles. Godlyn earned the 2019 Coach's Award and was selected as the 2019 Mount Aloysius Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.  

MALE BEST OF THE REST: D'Youville College senior men's basketball player Will VanAuken is currently working towards his Doctorate in Physical Therapy, with a 3.903 GPA, he has been on the Dean's List every semester, he is third all-time in program history in rebounds, and is a volunteer assistant coach for IFS Elite AAU...Franciscan University senior cross country runner Nick Long graduated in May with a 3.992 GPA, majoring in Math, English, and Spanish, he is a three-time all-conference performer and volunteers his time with Household Life and Choir...Hilbert College senior baseball player Treyton delaCuesta graduated with a 3.96 GPA in Forensic Science/Crime Scene Investigation while earning the Hilbert Graduate of Distinction Award and the McGrath Award for exemplary achievement both academically and athletically, he was a four-year member of the Hawks baseball team and has been a consummate team leader both on and off the field...Medaille College senior lacrosse and soccer player Matthew Gabalski graduated with a 3.98 GPA in Adolescent Education with a concentration in Social Studies and Special Education, he received the Medaille Medal honoring students' high academic achievement, while serving as the team captain of both teams for two seasons, he also served as a student ambassador and is a member of TRiO Student Support Services, serving as a peer mentor in the program...Penn St. Altoona junior baseball player Catcher Cumming has a 3.84 GPA in Business (Marketing/Management), he set the PSA program record for 12 RBI in a double-header and eight in a single game and was named to D3Baseball.com's Team of the Week...Penn St. Behrend senior baseball player Philip Myers graduated with a 3.90 GPA in Nursing, was a three-time all-conference selection and twice named the team's most valuable pitcher, he was named the Behrend Scholar Athlete of the Year and graduated at the top of his nursing class, he was also involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a member of the Student Nursing Association of Pennsylvania...Pitt-Bradford senior tennis player Matthew Dennis graduated with a 3.60 GPA as a triple major in Energy Science and Technology, Environmental Sciences, and Engineering Sciences, he earned the 2019 Outstanding Achievement Award from the Division of Physical and Computational Sciences and also earned the Triangle of Succes Award, he was a three-year team captain, member of the AMCC All-Sportsmanship Team, and particpated in numerous community service projects throughout his time at UPB...Pitt-Greensburg sophomore Cam Seigfreid has a 3.399 GPA in Political Science and Criminal Justice and is a member of the AMCC All-Academic Team, he was a third team all-conferene selection and was the third leading scorer in the AMCC this past season, and is currently interning with the Westmoreland County Courthouse. 

FEMALE BEST OF THE REST: D'Youville College junior softball player Therese Losardo has a 3.989 GPA in Psychology and a three-time AMCC Peak Performer, she was named the DYC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and the Student Employee of the Year, she hit a career-high .318 as a sophomore, and serves as the secretary of the Psychology Club while also coordinating therapy dog events on campus...Franciscan University senior tennis player Julia Razook graduated with a 3.99 GPA in Finance with a minor Management, she received the Jeffrey J. Anderson Business Leadership Scholarship and was an AMCC Peak Performer, she won three conference tennis titles and was a three-time all-conference selection, she also served as a Household Coordinator for 30 women and was a member of the SAAC committee where she co-led a speaker series for Christian students...Hilbert College senior cross country runner Megan Lee graduated with a 3.75 GPA in Digital Media and Communication with a minor in Human Services, she received the Hilbert College Award in DMAC & was awarded the 2019 McGrath Award for exemplary achievement both academically and athletically, she was a member of the honors program, was a graduate of distinction, and earned the Excellence in Service Learning Award, she became only the second three-time all-conference runner at Hilbert and is a three-time AMCC all-academic and Peak Performer honoree...Medaille College junior soccer and basketball player Amanda Arnold has a 3.98 GPA in Accounting, she is a member of the Honors College, Dean's List, Chi Alpha Sigman, and is a recipient of the 2019 New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants' Junior Student Award, she served as a team captain in both sports and was named to AMCC All-Sportsmanship Team for women's basketball, she is a member of SAAC and a student worker on campus, helping out at many events for the college...Penn St. Altoona senior bowler Nicole Watt graduated with a 3.72 GPA in Business/Accounting with a minor in Entrepreneurship, she was a member of the 2017-18 NTCA all-academic team, AMCC all-academic team, AMCC Peak Performer, and a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, she ranks in the PSA's bowling program top ten in multiple categories, is a three-time honoree on the AMCC all-sportsmanship team, and has actively served on the elected board of the PSA SAAC, while being involved with the SAAC Special Olympics bowling event...Penn St. Behrend senior cross country and track and field runner Jenna Shelton graduated wiht a 3.73 GPA is Marketing, she is two-time all-conference cross country runner, was named the Behrend Scholar Athlete of the Year and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society...Pitt-Bradford senior tennis player Maya Bingaman graduated with a 3.912 GPA with a major in International Affairs and a minor in Political Science, she is a two-time tennis team captain and is the recipient of numerous academic honors including the University of Pittsburgh University Scholar Award, the Janet McCauley Academic Excellence Award, the Student Affairs Special Recognition Award, among several others; she also was a member of the AMCC academic all-conference team, the AMCC all-sportsmanship team, and the Chi Alpha Sigma honor society...Pitt-Greensburg JR tennis player Hannah Sterrett carries a 3.812 GPA majoring in Applied Mathematics, while picking up a minor in Actuarial Sciences, she is a member of the AMCC all-academic team, a 2018 Peak Performer, and a member of Chi Alpha Sigma; she recorded a 2018 singles record of 12-3, setting the school record for singles victories in a season.
