AMCC WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR WEDNESDAY
The AMCC women's swimming and diving teams will take to the starting blocks this week for the 2019 AMCC championship meet. Hosted by Penn State Behrend at the Junker Center, the diving events will lead off Wednesday evening, with the swimming events to follow Thursday, February 14 through Saturday, February 16.

Penn State Behrend freshman Marcella Puglia has racked up four top times in the AMCC this season. Puglia boats the conference's top times in the 500 freestyle (5:19.57), 1000 freestyle (11:20.03), 1650 freestyle (18:37.80), and the 400 individual medley (5:01.43). In addition to Puglia's four top times, she also ranks in the top-ten in seven other categories including the 100 freestyle (3rd, 58:06), 200 freestyle (2nd, 2:01.61), 200 backstroke (7th, 2:28.74), 100 breaststroke (5th, 1:17.05), 200 butterfly (4th, 2:40.33), 100 individual medley (2nd, 1:07.70), and the 200 individual medley (3rd, 2:21.64).
Alfred State freshman Jessie Larue has compiled a solid rookie campaign as she earned a team-leading nine top-ten times on the season. Larue finished with the top time in the 200 backstroke (2:14.60), 100 individual medley (1:06.21) and the 200 individual medley (2:17.76). She also recorded top-ten times in the 50 freestyle (3rd, 25.76), 100 freestyle (2nd, 56.08), 200 freestyle (3rd, 2:02.97), 100 backstroke (2nd, 1:03.64), 100 butterfly (4th, 1:05.57), and 400 individual medley.
Penn State Altoona sophomore Danielle Bye led the Lady Lions with five top-ten times during the regular season. Bye earned two top-three finishes, including the 100 butterfly (1:03.52) and the 100 individual medley (1:08.62). Other top-ten times for Bye include the 100 backstroke (5th, 1:06.40), 200 backstroke (5th, 2:26.06), and the 200 individual medley (2:26.20).
Franciscan University freshman Emily Reuwer posted a strong rookie season for the Barons. Reuwer earned three conference-best times, including the 100 backstroke (1:03.55), 100 butterfly (1:01.03), and 200 butterfly (2:26.72). She also picked up top-ten finishes in the 50 freestyle (4th, 24.90) and the 200 backstroke (6th, 2:28.30).
SUNY Delhi joined the AMCC as the newest affiliate member in swimming and diving prior to the 2018-19 season. Sophomore Julia Witt is the Broncos' top women's swimmer, capturing five victories while competing in the 500-yard, 200-yard, 100-yard, and 50-yard freestyle this season.

Beginning on Thursday, February 14 and continuing through the rest of the 2019 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Swimming and Diving Championships, the AMCC will be collecting monetary donations for non-profit organization "Goggles For Guppies" from all fans and participants in the meet.
In addition to donations, there will be a Chuck-A-Duck 50/50 event to conclude action each day beginning on Thursday, February 14. Participants can purchase a duck for one dollar or three ducks for two dollars. The goal of the event is to throw a rubber duck into a flotation device in order to win cash prizes. All proceeds will help provide children with proper water safety to limit childhood accidents in water related settings.
