AMCC WOMEN'S SWIMMING AND DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS KICK OFF ON WEDNESDAY
The AMCC men's and women's swimming and diving championships will kick off on Wednesday, February 11 with the diving competition at Grove City College.
The AMCC men's and women's swimming and diving championships will kick off on Wednesday, February 11 with the diving competition at Grove City College. Cabrini College will look to defend their first AMCC conference title that they claimed in 2014.
Cabrini is led by three-time AMCC Swimmer of the Week sophomore Christina Melchiorre who ranks first in the AMCC in the 1000 freestyle, 500 freestyle, and 100 freestyle. Melchiorre is also second in the 50 freestyle and 200 freestyle.
Other performers to watch on the women's side include:
Pitt-Bradford sophomore Elizabeth Prager, who ranks first in the 200 freestyle, 400 individual medley, 200 backstroke, 100 backstroke, and 1650 freestyle. She also ranks second in the 500 and 1000 freestyle.
PS-Behrend sophomore Mia Pietropola ranks first in the 200 backstroke, 200 individual medley, and 100 breaststroke.
Franciscan freshman Elizabeth McNulty is tops in the AMCC in the 200 butterfly, second in the 100 butterfly, and third in the 200 individual medley.
PS-Altoona sophomore Ashley Nero is third in the 100 butterfly and fourth in the 200 individual medley.
The swimming events will begin Thursday and conclude Saturday. Preliminaries will begin daily at 10am and the finals will run nightly starting at 6pm. The AMCC championship is held in conjunction with the Grove City Invitational and the Presidents Athletic Conference Championship.
