AMCC WOMEN'S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF THIS WEEKEND

The AMCC women's soccer championship tournament kicks off on Saturday when #6 Franciscan University travels to #3 D'Youville College and #5 Penn St. Altoona travels to #4 Pitt-Greensburg. #1 Penn State Behrend and #2 Mount Aloysius College both received first round byes. 

Tournament host and #1 seed Penn State Behrend completed the regular season with a perfect 9-0 conference record. Freshman forward Brenna McGuire leads the conference with 15 goals, while also adding four assists on the year. Forward Emily Indorf ranks right behind McGuire with 13 goals and is also tied for fourth with five assists. Midfielder Payton Porter has contributed seven assists this season, tying her for the second spot in the conferencce. Behrend goalkeeper Madi Jones ranks third with 14 goals against and is second with a .85 goals-against-average.

With a 7-1-1 record, Mount Aloysius enters the tournament as the #2 seed. Mountie forward Cheyenne Kuncher leads the Mountie attack with nine goals, while midfielder Brianna Byler leads the team with four assists. Between the pipes, goalkeeper Lauren Davey's 0.75 goals-against-average is tops in the league, while her .833 save percentage is third-best. 

D'Youville enters with a 5-2-2 record, and has earned the conference's third seed. The Spartans are led offensively by forward Makenna Magee's four goals. Goalkeeper Megan Dulniak leads the conference with an .866 save percentage and is fifth with a 1.41 goals-against-average. 

 #4 Pitt-Greensburg, with a 5-4 conference mark, is led by senior Bri Burgunder's eight goals and five assists. Tiffany Michalek has also chipped in offensively with six goals and three assists on the year. Bobcat goalkeeper Kaity Watson has surrendered 14 goals and her 1.22 goals-against-average is fourth best in the conference.

Entering the tournament with a 4-4-1 record is #5 Penn St. Altoona. The Lady Lions have seen a standout rookie campaign from freshman forward Sadie McConnell, as she ranks third in the conference with 12 goals, and has also added three assists. Midfielder Kierra Irwin is tied for second in the league with seven assists while also adding five goals. Goalkeeper Riley Barrett ranks second in the league with an .846 save percentage and 12 goals against, while ranking third with a 0.94 goals-against-average. 

Rounding out the field, also with a 4-4-1 record, is #6 Franciscan. Midfielder Emily Wieszczek leads the Baron offense with four goals, while midfielder Elizabeth Dawyot is tops in the conference with eight assists. Goalkeeper Sarah Luebking has recorded 82 saves and carries a .774 save percentage.

First round games will be played on Saturday, October 27, with the top two seeds receiving byes. The semifinals will take place on Wednesday, October 31, with the championship game on Saturday, November 3.  The AMCC champion will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, with the national championship to be played at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro on November 30-December 1.
