Hilbert College athletics announced the appointment of Brandon Bitka as the new head coach of its Women's Lacrosse program. Bitka, a familiar face within the Hilbert Athletics Department, brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the role.
The 2022 Hilbert graduate will serve as the women's lacrosse head coach as well as the athletic facilities coordinator. He will draw from his previous coaching experiences with the Buffalo Lacrosse Academy and the Hilbert men's team the last two seasons as much as he will pull from his playing days as a men's lacrosse player at Hilbert.
After navigating a pandemic-reduced career on the turf for the Hawks, Bitka returned to the sidelines to help coach, motivate, teach and share his passion for the game under men's head coach Mike Carbery.
The Amherst High School graduate was a four-year member of the men's lacrosse program, a two-year captain, and helped lead the Hawks to two North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) post-season tournaments.
Bitka appeared in 26 games, scored 24 goals, added 14 assists (40 points) while scooping 20 ground balls and causing six turnovers. He missed his 2020 sophomore champagne due to injury, started all four games in the 2021 Covid-reduced schedule and flourished his senior year earning 23 points.
Bitka, the Hawks' representative on the 2022 NEAC All-Sportsmanship team, graduated with a sports management degree from Hilbert and earned his Master's in Sport Administration from Canisius Canisius University in 2024.
