PENN STATE ALTOONA, BEHREND TO BATTLE FOR MEN'S TENNIS TITLE
#1 Penn State Altoona and #2 Penn State Behrend will meet for the AMCC men's tennis divisional title on Sunday.
#1 Penn State Altoona and #2 Penn State Behrend will meet for the AMCC men's tennis divisional title on Sunday. Both teams cruised to first round victories without dropping a set.
Altoona got the ball rolling with a 5-0 win over #4 Pitt-Greensburg. The Lions did not lose a game as they swept #1 and #2 doubles and #2, #3 and #4 singles by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Sophomore Andrew Chronister won twice with decisions at #1 doubles (with senior Casey Hess) and #2 singles. Box Score
Behrend got a bit more resistance from #3 Mount Aloysius College, but still emerged with a 5-0 victory. They started by earning the doubles point with wins at #2 and #3 doubles, then added on with decisions at #4-#6 singles. The Lions were led by sophomore Paul Flick who scored two team points with wins at #6 singles and #3 doubles. Box Score
The Penn State rivals will meet for the AMCC division title at 1:00pm on Sunday at Westwood Racquet Club. The winner will advance to the championship of the Atlantic East Conference on May 3 in Hershey PA vs. the winner of the Atlantic East division.
