BEHREND'S SIMON AND PITT-BRADFORD'S KOSS TAKE MEN'S TOP SWIMMING AWARDS

Penn St. Behrend senior Dan Simon was named the 2015 AMCC Men's Swimmer of the Year, while Pitt-Bradford freshman Corey Koss was tabbed as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year.

Simon, who shared 2013 and 2014 Co-Swimmer of the Year honors and was a five-time AMCC Swimmer of the Week this season, had a standout year for the Lions. He achieved his first NCAA cut time in the 100 back at the first dual meet of the year and was second in Division III for two weeks. Simon had the opportunity to compete at US Senior Nationals in December where he performed well. During the course of the season, Simon broke the team and AMCC records in the 200 back every time he swam it. At championships he won the 50 free (21.05), 100 back (49.66), and 200 back (1:52.14) and was part of four winning relays (200 free, 400 medley, 200 medley, and 400 free). He set a pool and AMCC meet record of 49.48 leading off the 400 medley relay, and broke school and AMCC record leading off the 400 free relay with a time of 46.75. Within the invite, he placed fifth in the 50 free and second in both the 100 and 200 back. The senior has two NCAA B cuts (100 and 200 back) and is currently seventh in the 100 back in Division III. After being awarded high point scorer in 2013, Simon has shared high point scoring honors at the AMCC championship meet for the past two years.

Koss, a two-time AMCC Swimmer of the Week, set four school records at the AMCC Championships. The records include second place finishes in the 200 medley relay (1:38.26), the 100 backstroke (52.58), and the 400 medley relay (3:34.14), and a third place finish in the 200 backstroke (1:58.18). Koss was also on the second place 400 freestyle relay team.

Men's Coach of the Year honors were awarded to Pitt-Bradford's Ed Bahan who guided the Panthers to a second place finish after a third place finish in 2014.
