BEHREND LIONS EDGED 3-2 IN OVERTIME

The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team fell to Ohio Wesleyan 3-2 in overtime Friday night in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament. The Lions (18-4) fought back from two separate one-goal deficits but came up just short in overtime.

Colton Bloecher gave Ohio Wesleyan (16-4-2) an early 1-0 lead netting a goal at the 17:40 mark. Playing in his final game as a Behrend Lion, senior Sean Polosky notched a tying goal at the 30:46 mark, capitalizing on a goalie error.

Just three minutes later, Ohio Wesleyan took a 2-1 lead on Gunnar Bloecher's goal from the right side of the box. Again the Lions would answer. With just over a minute to play until halftime, Kyle Beckett drilled Behrend's second goal of the game, knotting things up heading into the half.

Neither team could push across a goal in the second half, sending the game to overtime tied at two. At the 93:49 mark, Ohio Wesleyan snatched the victory on Taylor Rieger's chip shot from 15 yards out.

The heartbreaking loss ends Behrend's 13-game winning streak and exits the Lions from the NCAA Tournament.  Evan Augustine added an assist on Beckett's first-half goal, his first of the season.

Behrend finished the season with an 18-4 record.
