AMCC MEN'S BASKETBALL GAME OF THE WEEK - WEEK OF FEBRUARY 9

AMCC Men's Basketball Game of the Week: Medaille College @ Penn St. Behrend (Wednsday, February 11 - 8:00 p.m.)

This week's AMCC Men's Basketball Game of the Week features the top two teams in the conference, the Penn St. Behrend Lions (19-2, 13-1 AMCC) and the Medaille College Mavericks (15-5, 12-2 AMCC). The fist place Lions were victors over the Mavericks on their home court, 88-76, on January 14. Medaille will be looking for revenge on Wednesday night as they try to even their records and tie the Lions for the top spot in the conference.

The Lions enter Wednesday’s game coming off eight straight conference victories and boast a 19-2 overall record. Behrend sits atop the AMCC with a conference mark of 13-1 with their only loss coming on the road to Pitt-Greensburg on January 11. Junior forward Zane Hackett leads the Lions in scoring netting 15.3 ppg. Hackett has done great work in the post for the Behrend offense shooting 56.7 percent from the field which is third in the AMCC. The Lions have played solid fundamental basketball and pride themselves on defense. Behrend leads the nation in scoring defense allowing just 54.8 ppg and rank 16th in the nation turning the ball over only 10.4 times per game. Senior guards Nick DeLisio and Keith Wallace provide excellent leadership and experience having won two AMCC Championships in their career. DeLisio is scoring 14.8 ppg and is shooting 45 percent from three-point land. Wallace is the reigning Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the conference and currently leads the AMCC with 2.5 steals per game.

Medaille currently sits in second place in the AMCC with a 12-2 AMCC record.  Under the guidance of first-year head coach Mike Blaine, the team has come on strong in the second half of the season as they have a 15-5 overall record after a sub-par 2-3 start to the season.  The Mavs have won their last eight games and look to avenge their 88-76 loss to Penn St.-Behrend which was their last loss.  The Mavericks are led by Pre-Season AMCC Player of the Year senior Jammal Coleman who leads the conference with 21.1 ppg.  Medaille currently is ranked second in the AMCC in points against per game in AMCC contests (67.9), which has played a large role in their second half turnaround.  The winner of this game will have the inside track to having the #1 seed in the AMCC Tournament.
