LA ROCHE LOOKS TO CLAIM BACK-TO-BACK AMCC TITLES

La Roche College has claimed two of the past three AMCC baseball championship titles, and they will look to add another one this year. The Redhawks have locked up the top seed and the right to host the 2015 AMCC baseball tournament. 

La Roche is led by junior pitcher Tanner Wilt, who ranks first in the AMCC in ERA (2.03) and third in strikeouts (53).  Senior pitcher, and AMCC Preseason Pitcher of the Year, Tyler Ferguson ranks second in the conference with six wins and fifth with 47 strikeouts. Offensively, the Redhawks are led by senior outfielder Cory Podvasnik who leads the AMCC with a .448 batting average and is fifth with five homeruns. 

Penn St. Behrend, who is tied with the most baseball championships in conference history (5), enters the tournament as the #2 seed. Leading Behrend at the plate is junior outfielder Alex Margraf, who carries a .378 batting average. The Lions boast a balanced pitching staff with sophomore Jack Herzing and senior Connor Semple who lead the conference in wins (7) and saves (4), respectively, while sophomore Justin Rohrer is second in the AMCC with a 2.04 ERA.

Mount Aloysius College, the #3 seed, is looking to claim their first AMCC title. Junior outfielder Connor Bowie is tied for first in the AMCC in both stolen bases (20) and homeruns (7), while also leading the Mounties with a .353 batting average and 29 RBIs. 2014 AMCC Pitcher of the Year, senior Derrick Capiak, once again leads Mt. Aloysius, and the AMCC, on the mound with his 62 strikeouts. Capiak also ranks third in the conference with his five wins.

#4 Pitt-Greensburg will look to junior Matt Moyer at the plate, as his .430 batting average puts him second in the AMCC. Sophomore pitcher Billy Elliott  is fourth in the conference with 49 strikeouts and is tied for third with five wins.

#5 Pitt-Bradford is looking for their first conference title since 2005. Senior Connor Borowsi is tied with a conference-leading seven homeruns, while senior pitcher Mike Para leads the Bobcats with a 3.44 ERA.

Medaille College earned the #6 seed after sweeping Hilbert on Tuesday afternoon. Junior catcher Ryan Markiewicz ranks fourth in the AMCC with a .417 batting average. Freshman pitcher Steven Hostinsky leads the Mavericks with a 4.08 ERA, 21 strikeouts, and four wins.
