AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 6, 2026
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's soccer, cross country, women's volleyball, and women's tennis for the period running from September 29-October 5, 2025.
Women's Tennis: PS-Altoona SO Abigail Morgan went 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles during a 2-0 week of play for the Lions. In a road win at non-conference opponent Penn College on Friday she won 6-0, 6-0 in her No. 5 singles match. In a home victory over AMCC foe Pitt-Greensburg on Sunday, she prevailed 1-6, 6-1, 10-8 in No. 4 singles for the match-clinching point, and she also moved up the doubles lineup to compete in the No. 1 spot, where she was part of a 6-3 win.
Men's Cross Country: PS-Behrend FR Ethan Vaughan ran his first collegiate race and led the Lions with an 11th place finish at the Fredonia Kara Hall Memorial Invite. The newcomer ran 27:15.9 for the 8K Invite
Women's Cross Country: PS-Behrend SR Lindsey Hartle finished in the Top 10 for Behrend at the Fredonia Invite, placing eighth overall and first on the team with a time of 25:03.4 on the 6k course.
Women's Soccer (Offensive): Alfred State F Isabella Hoffmann helped lead the Pioneers to a 2-0 week, as the Pioneers open up conference play with a 3-0 record. Hoffman she tallied two goals and an assist in two victories for Alfred State this past week.
Women's Soccer (Defensive): Pitt-Greensburg D Dionna Santia anchored the defense in both games for the Bobcats this week, playing in 164 of 180 minutes. Santia led a defensive group that allowed only five shots and one on goal in two games, helping the team to a 1-0-1 start in conference play. Santia also contributed an assist in the win over Pitt-Bradford.
Men's Soccer (Offensive): La Roche F Malvin Madzimbamuto continued his solid start to the 2025 season, helping lift the Redhawks to a 1-0-1 week. Madzimbamuto, in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over Carlow, was a factor in all three goals scored, including finding the back of the net on a pair of goals and adding an assist on the other. In Saturday's 1-1 draw at Alfred State, Madzimbamuto scored what is his AMCC-leading eighth goal of the season.
Men's Soccer (Defensive): Pitt-Greensburg D Arlo McIntyre led the Bobcat back line to a 2-0 start to conference play this past week. McIntyre played all 180 minutes and held Penn State Altoona to five shots on goal in leading Pitt-Greensburg to a shutout victory. Against Pitt-Bradford, McIntyre helped to hold the Panthers to three shots on goal, while also adding an assist on the opening goal of the game.
Women's Volleyball (Offensive): PS-Altoona OH Lia Simanski continued to provide a steady dose of offense for the Lions during a 2-1 week of non-conference play on the road. In Tuesday night's sweep of Penn State Berks, she recorded five kills on seven attempts. Saturday, in her team's first match of the day, the junior totaled eight kills in a 3-0 win over Penn State Hazleton. Later that day, in a three-set loss to Elizabethtown, she posted 11 kills. On the week, Simanski had 24.0 points (4.0 points per set) on 24 kills (4.0 kills per set) with a .250 attack percentage.
Women's Volleyball (Defensive): PS-Altoona DS Brianna Woodring totaled 43 digs for an average of 4.78 digs per set in a 2-1 week of non-conference play on the road. In a 3-0 win at Penn State Berks last Tuedsay night, she had 10 digs. On Saturday, in another three-set victory over Penn State Hazleton, the sophomore tallied 13 digs. Later that afternoon, in a 3-0 loss to Elizabethtown, she recorded 20 digs.
