MEDAILLE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES CHANGE IN COACHING DUTIES

Medaille College Director of Athletics Sue Roarke announced a restructuring of coaching duties within the Athletic Department. Associate Director of Athletics and Women's Bowling Head Coach Laura Edholm will be assuming the role of Head Coach for the Men's Golf program while Jeff Walsh will be promoted to Women's Bowling Head Coach.

Edholm and Walsh have built a women's bowling powerhouse over the course of the last five years. The Mavericks have stayed at the top of the AMCC standings, including three regular season finishes as the top seed and four AMCC Championships. Their efforts earned them their first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history in 2019 and followed up with their second in 2021. This year, their second appearance on the national stage included an upset victory over #2 Nebraska, who would eventually go on to become National Champions.

Formerly the Associate Bowling Head Coach, Walsh arrived on campus in 2016, and has been instrumental in the technical and mental side of bowling for the program. On top of his time spent with the Mavericks, he has also been a part of the Western New York bowling circuit and national bowling industry for over 30 years.

Edholm brings years of experience to the Men's Golf program, actively participating in Buffalo Women's District Golf Association events while also being involved with the Women's Golf Association of Western New York. She has been playing the game since she was eight years old and took her golf career to the collegiate level, playing two years at the University of South Carolina-Coastal, making her a two-sport athlete as a four-year member of the Women's Volleyball program as well.

Edholm comes from a family of golfers and has continued that tradition within her own family with two of her sons going on to play at the D-I level. Most recently, she has partnered to purchase Pendleton Creek Golf Club in North Tonawanda.
