On Wednesday, October 26, the Pitt-Greensburg women’s basketball team and coaching staff joined Majors Earnest and Vanessa Fullwood of the Greensburg Salvation Army to help with Project Bundle-Up. Held at the Greensburg Wal*Mart, Project Bundle-Up is a program that provides needy and disabled senior citizens and disadvantaged children, ranging from infants to teens, with winter outerwear. Eligibility for the program is based on economic need and vouchers are provided to selected participants to obtain winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and boots.
For the seventh year in a row, the UPG players and coaches took children and senior citizens on personal shopping trips to select their winter outerwear. They also assisted the Salvation Army in a variety of other ways, including checking-in families, explaining and distributing vouchers, and helping cashiers track and bag purchases. Project Bundle-Up is just one of the wonderful programs and services offered by the Greensburg Salvation Army, which has been serving our local community since 1903.
