BEHREND TRIO HIGHLIGHTS WOMEN'S SOCCER ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
Penn State Behrend junior forward Marlene Andrade has been named the AMCC Women's Soccer Player of the Year. Andrade tallied four goals and five assists in conference play for 13 points. She started every game and ranks third on the team with six goals and five assists for 17 points. Andrade netted four game-winning goals, with two of those coming in conference play, and converted both penalty kicks taken this season. Two game-winning goals this season were in 1-0 games (St. John Fisher and Pitt-Greensburg) and the third was against conference oppnenet Alfred State.
Behrend senior goalkeeper Riley Morningstar has been tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year. Morningstar did not give up a goal in conference play for a 0.00 goals-against average. Due to the stingy Behrend defense, she only needed to make five saves in eight conference games. Morningstar registered all eight AMCC wins in goal with all eight being shutouts. Overall, she led the conference with a 0.45 goals-against average in 18 contests and has only given up seven goals all season.
Behrend freshman midfielder Bri Ross has garnered Newcomer of the Year honors. Ross recorded nine goals and seven assists for 25 points in just seven conference games started. She registered two hat tricks in conference play and one game-winning goal. Overall, she led the team and was third in the AMCC with 29 points thanks to 11 goals and seven assists.
Alfred State College head coach Anne Holmok earns her first AMCC Coach of the Year recognition. After going 4-10-3 overall and 2-4-2 in AMCC play a season ago, Holmok led the Pioneers to a 6-3 conference record, while going 11-7 overall this season. The Pioneers earned the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament before falling in the semifinal round in a double overtime loss which came down to penalty kicks.
