AMCC 25TH ANNIVERSARY DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI SERIES: CARLTON FALCONER, JR, LA ROCHE

AMCC 25TH ANNIVERSARY DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI SERIES: CARLTON FALCONER, JR, LA ROCHE

Carlton Falconer Jr. was a student at La Roche University from 2004-2008, and a member of the men’s basketball team from 2005-2008.

Falconer got to play under the great Scott Lang, to which La Roche’s court is now dedicated. During his senior year Falconer competed in three contests. During those contests he contributed nine points and three rebounds.

When Falconer was asked why he chose La Roche for his academic and athletic career he had this to say: “Once I visited campus, it immediately felt like home and where I wanted to start and finish my college career. Reflecting on the friendships that I made and the bonds that I formed with my teammates, I’m glad I chose La Roche University.”

Falconer graduated from La Roche in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Falconer has since gone on to work in various marketing positions before moving into his current profession, as a Certified Life Coach. Falconer always had a passion for helping others and once he realized he wanted to help people full time, he searched different professions until he landed on life coaching. He completed his graduate certificate in May of 2018 and hit the ground running. The marketing degree Falconer earned from La Roche has been very helpful in starting his own life coaching services. “I currently implement a lot of the marketing techniques and strategies that I learned to advertise and market my coaching services.”

As all student-athletes know, the challenge of being a student-athlete is not for the weak. Falconer had no difference in experience, but did mention that it was one of the best experiences he could have gone through.

“Being a student-athlete helped me develop discipline. Having to find a balance between being my best both academically and athletically required both discipline and dedication. It also enhanced my work ethic. Competing athletically at the collegiate level while taking collegiate level courses ultimately brought the best out of me.”

Mr. Falconer now owns his own Life Coach Services company called Carlton Speaks, LLC. He specializes in Spiritual Uplifting and the Empowerment of Women. He is available to book for individual sessions, workshops and events.

The Distinguished Alumni Series is part of the AMCC's 25th anniversary where the conference will be recognizing former AMCC student-athletes who have excelled in their area of study. The Distinguished Alumni Series will run every Thursday throughout the academic year. Falconer's was released on Monday due to the Thanksgiving holiday this week.
