MOUNT ALOYSIUS' EMILY GOLDYN SELECTED AS AMCC HONOREE FOR NCAA WOMAN OF THE YEAR

Mount Aloysius College women's tennis player Emily Goldyn has been selected as the 2019 AMCC honoree for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award. Goldyn graduated in May with a 3.95 GPA in Criminology and Psychology with a concentration in Forensic Science. The NCAA Woman of the Year program honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. 

Goldyn has participated in numerous community service and campus activities, while also holding several leadership positions throughout her tenure at Mount Aloysius. She participated in Habitat for Humanity, Giving Shoes through Tom's in Honduras, and a Dickens of a Christmas community event. As part of the criminology program at Mount, she participated in mock interviews at FCI Loretto and served as President of both the Criminology Club and the Psychology Club. Goldyn also served as a campus resident assistant and was part of the Mercy Presidential Scholars Program.

Academically, Goldyn was a member of the Dean's List every semester at the college. She was an AMCC academic all-conference honoree (2015-present), and a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society. Goldyn was named Outstanding Student in both the Psychology and Criminology programs during her senior year. 

Goldyn played in the No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles spots all four years of her athletic career with the Mounties. She garnered AMCC all-conference second team honors her senior season, while also guiding the Mounties to a conference runner-up position in the tournament finals, the furthest any Mountie women's tennis team has ever advanced. She was named team MVP during the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, while earning the the women's tennis Coach's Award in 2017-18, recognizing her outstanding leadership and team contributions. 

The NCAA Woman of the Year selection committee identifies the Top 30 – 10 from each division – and from there selects three finalists from each division. The Committee on Women’s Athletics then selects the winner from the nine finalists.

All 30 Woman of the Year honorees will be recognized, and the 2019 Woman of the Year announced, at an awards dinner at the Westin Indianapolis on Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019.
